A thread on how this desperate attempt by some Muslims to undermine the influence of Gaza genocide on the defeat of Democrats and Harris stems from their desire to abandon the Palestinian cause from US Muslim activism. 1/10 For a long time, some parts of the Muslim community saw the Palestinian cause as an obstacle for their integration within power circles. With the US complicity in the Israeli occupation of Palestine, it has always been difficult to be friendly with US political institutions. 2/10

What Biden and Harris have done and enabled in Gaza, Lebanon, and Middle East goes beyond just a genocide. It's a new wave of colonialism.
Not sure Trump can even do worse. A thread: 1. The genocide in Gaza and the lack of accountability for Israel have opened their appetite to expand their butchery to other areas like the West Bank and Lebanon.

With Hamas and Islamic Jihad declaring the return of "suicide bombings" attacks as a response to the mass-murder of civilians in Gaza, here is a quick thread on them: 1/8 Palestinian resistance started the "suicide bombings" attacks as a response to the Ibrahim Mosque Massacre which was committed by American-Israeli Baruch Goldstein in 1994, killing 26 Palestinians while praying. 2/8

These arguments that Israel is assassinating Hamas leaders who want truce/ceasefire agreements to prevent peace are half truths and problematic: Hamas follows a consensus democracy for decision making processes, especially about major ones. There are democratic institutions that represent Hamas geographic popular bases. No one leader, big or small, can make a large impact decision on their own.

In reality, the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is just a symbolic victory for Israel and doesn't change much on the ground. This decades-long strategy of assassinating leaders of Palestinian resistance movements never weakened them, especially not Hamas. After the assassination of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and Al-Rantisi, founders of Hamas, Israel thought the leadership of Hamas was destroyed. On the contrary, Hamas got stronger and that forced it to invest in its political leadership outside of the Palestine borders.

The defeat of Jamaal Bowman shouldn't be shocking because of how American Democracy work along with his shaky centrist position on the Palestinian cause. Thread: 1/8 American Democracy isn't broken, it's functioning as expected. It's an oligarchy where public policy is defined by interest groups and not the majority rule. American Democracy allows public participation in elections with a "bounded uncertainty" to limit impact on politics. 2/8

While speaking in favor of Palestine now, Bassem Youssef was part of the problem of besieging & isolating Gaza to face this genocide.
Youssef helped Sisi in overthrowing Morsi & outlawing Ikhwan, curbing Egypt's political and material support to Gaza. 1/6 Sisi wouldn't have made it to power without the full support of the US & Israel. The price of the coup was to suffocate Gaza on all levels. Ending political support, destroying tunnels used to smuggle food & weapons, and emptying Egyptian Rafah to get rid of popular support. 2/6
