But when he meets a young spirit, slightly taller than him, blond hair and red eyes, everything changes. When he could barely distinguish Mawtiyima Forest, he stopped and took out the sketchbook.

Kaveh has a kind soul, he can see it on his drawings. On his smile. On his eyes. On his voice.

Alhaitham knows that he will understand why he has to do this.

Alhaitham is not a person who likes regretting, but if not even gods are free of them, how can a mere human aspire not to have them?

Regretting, as pain, as happiness and as all feelings, is common for all lives in a major or minor way. Regrets can be like great wounds or minor scars, small but memorable.

In Alhaitham's life, his first regret to be remembered was a scar, as just a toddler. He looked at his brand new book tainted with soup and thought "if only soup wasn't liquid, this wouldn't have happened."

Kaveh's life has been defined for the what ifs. They have always haunted him.

Words said, silence kept. Straightforward action, refrained intention. Loud scream, silent cry.

All were a face he didn't choose from the coin.

[Happy Birthday Kaveh 2023!] The first what if came when he was too young, when his father was declared dead.

The world turned upside down, and never returned to be the same. His mother isolated herself in her pain, and Kaveh couldn't avoid to ask to his reflection.

"What if I just... stayed quiet?"

Being inseparable from his headphones since a young age, Alhaitham has many of his memories associated with music.

Songs get tied with moments, for better or for worse, and they will never sound the same way afterwards. Songs he liked turned into drivers of bittersweet memories, and songs he thought dull at first became his favourites because of an association.

This is not a logical musical taste, and he tried to deny it when he was younger, before learning not everything has to be that way.

Contrary to the popular belief, Alhaitham hasn't always appreciated the silence.

Yes, silence is useful when you want to read. Yes, he knows it's logical to think that he loved silence since he was a child, always seen with a book in hands. The reality, however, is another one. Alhaitham's house was never silent when he was a kid. His grandmother used to put her old music player on every single day at the exact same hour. It also turned off at every night at the same hour, and it was his signal to go to bed.

Alhaitham doesn't rely too much on intuition. He hates the uncertainty of deductions coming from a feeling. He prefers observing and coming to a highly probable resolution.

He applies this in every aspect of his life. Including Kaveh. But Kaveh wouldn't be Kaveh if he made things easy for him. Kaveh excels in the art of deceiving when he doesn't want to worry the other party. He was like that since Akademiya days. When Kaveh told him his family story, it came clear for him why he is so good at it.
