1- I teach a course on ISIS, and one point I argue on the anti-ISIS campaign is that it only took serious steps towards eradicating the group after attacks went global. Between 2013-2015 when ISIS was wrecking havoc in Syria and Iraq.. 2- .., the coalition limited its interference to minimal impact airstrikes on towns. There was an unspoken of belief that ISIS could be contained in Raqqa and Mosul with an occasional attack in Asia, but it posed little threat beyond that.

Dramatic day for Iraq at the UNGA today. On the resolution for immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, Iraq originally abstained. Quick explanations suggested that the wording implied a formal acknowledgment of the State of Israel which Iraq refused. Image About 90 minutes later, journalists inside the UN building covering the voting process reported that Iraq had requested to change its vote from abstain to agree, citing a technical glitch as the reason behind the erroneous vote.

As someone from a city that was for years, and is still in some circles, guilty by association for falling under the control of an armed terrorist group, the collective punishment of Gaza brings back painful memories and fears out a similar tragic outcome to that of Mosul. One of many examples. This was not a random account. This person was named a "citizen journalist" by Human Rights Watch in one report. He was quoted by experts and analysts. He even published his own articles. His calls for collective punishment completely overlooked Image
