I grew up in the hacker community. I have always loved it, but also recognized underlying sentiment of cynicism. I never dreamt that the entire hacker world would come together to rally and support my child. I have five quick stories I want to share from this weekend. Let’s go:

5. Last night I asked @grifter801 why thousands of hackers would intentionally be awake at 3:37 AM to watch some random dude’s kid competing in the Olympics. His answer was blunt. “Sam is our son, Ray! All of us!” Image

Around 6 months ago, the recording of my Shmoocon Firetalk ”Hacking Your Metabolism” was posted to YouTube. Since then, the line that has generated the most feedback was this: “BMI is Bullshit.”

In this thread, I am going to prove that BMI is bullshit. And I will also show you another way to measure health and progress. (part 1/26)Image But before we get started, two things you already know:

1. Obesity is a disease.
2. Huge percentages of Americans are overweight and/or obese, and this number is increasing (part 2 of 26) Image

Q: When was the last time you downloaded a complete archive of all your tweets and DM's? Doing this gives you the ability to search locally, including inside DM's.

If you are like most people, you never have. This thread is going to show you step by step how to do it. Image Image

Have you ever heard the expression “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”? Well AliExpress is currently advertising a 30 Terabyte SSD for $29. And I just had one delivered. Let’s open it up, shall we? /1 I was kinda expecting the package to say 30 gigabytes not 39 terabytes, which would be a somewhat credible “typo”. But note! It even says M.2! /2

One of the reasons that ex-President Trump hates Ukraine so much is because on July 6, 2017, Vladimir Putin met with him for 3 hours and convinced him that Ukraine hacked the DNC to frame Russia and tarnish his victory. (1/4) marketwatch.com/story/trump-sa… After this meeting, Trump began espousing the insane idea that Crowdstrike was Ukrainian and had a "server" they were hiding from him. Putin also told him that they wanted Hillary to win and so they "framed" him. (2/4) forbes.com/sites/paulrode…

This is a very low price ($49) on a Chromebook 11 that you probably do not need, but could donate to a school or shelter. I am told that 4GB is enough for basic web browsing and document collaboration. Non-affiliate link in the comments below. Link: itechdeals.com/products/dell-…

On a weekday in January, despite having multiple levels of “lock” on my cellular account, someone hijacked my SIM and phone number at 9:43 AM. I use my phone for MFA on 33 accounts. This is what happened next. THREAD: At 9:43 AM I received an email saying a new device was registered to my number. I knew the attackers did not have access to my email or bank accounts. I was certain they could not access my MFA because I do not use SMS for MFA.
