Yall, this running for office thing is hard af. The paperwork, the disclosures, the surveys, the financial components, literally ALL of it feels so complicated for a regular degular person like me. I say this because what Im learning is that this process was not created for you or I and is intentionally created to be a difficult process to exclude most of us who DONT have money, a high profile network, or a "name"...

When I was 14 I was put out of my American Govt class for calling the teacher a not-so-nice name (something I now cringe at). I was one of ā€œthoseā€ kids. I was the kid who grew up in a 3 bedroom apartment with my 5 siblings and mom. I was the kid whose mom worked 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet. I was the kid who had free lunch and thrift clothes. Google hated my audacity to demand they do better by Historically Black Colleges and Universities and they ::especially:: hated that I was unafraid to challenge their blatantly racist internal hiring practices.

I'm finna tell yall why @Google fired me- their MOST successful diversity recruiter in the history of their company- with the receipts to support that statement. Reading about what happened to @timnitGebru at Google is both triggering and yet super encouraging. While I don’t want to capitalize off of her moment, I do want to share my experience as a black queer woman at Google.
