The charge of 'betrayal' against the Sikhs could be justified only if they 'had been disloyal to, or had violated allegiance to' a cause, person or trust they had at any time befriended or owned. The Sikhs were never at any time privy to, or took up the cause of, the mutiny. 
The Committee met all the three Hindu families living in the village, who also complained against the misbehavior of the C.R.P.F. men.

1) This story is about 21 widows, all from one family, who lived in the Sagarpur area of West Delhi near the Delhi Cantonment. On Nov 1, 1984 a resident of the area suggested that the male members of the family should all take shelter in a tube well room located near their house.

Wounded twice on the battlefields of France in WWI, Canadian soldier Pvt. Buckam Singh was one of only 9 Sikh soldiers allowed to serve with Canadian Forces in WWI. Buckam Singh was born on December 5, 1893 at Mahilpur in the Hoshiarpur District of Punjab.

In 1510, Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited Bidar on his way to Ceylon. Bhai Saheb Singh Ji, one of the first Panj Pyare, hailed from this town. In 1988, Bidar had a minority Sikh population. The town has a hospital and a few educational institutes named after Guru Nanak Dev Ji. 
On July 13, ten Sikh bus passengers traveling in Uttar Pradesh state were taken into custody and shot dead in what authorities have claimed was an armed "encounter" with police. None of the detainees were armed as per witnesses. An 11th detainee who was minor has never been found 
On June 8 1992, security forces attacked Akali leader Manjit Singh's house as they suspected that BTFK commander Surjit Singh and Madan Maddi were hiding their in a specially built bunker. The forces included: 1600 police personnel; 1 army battalion and a helicopter. 
Besides picking up innocent Sikhs and killing them in fake encounters, the police also targeted those who sympathized with the movement. Many of the families had no links with the movement but only provided shelter and food for the fighters. One such family was Bhai Ajit Singh's.
