America stands with Ukraine in its fight for peace and it was an honor to hear from @ZelenskyyUa directly today in Congress. Image A murderous dictator has launched an unprovoked and unjustified attack on a sovereign democratic neighbor and in the process killed hundreds of civilians – including pregnant women and children. This is a tragedy and has been met with a global response led by President Biden.

I know the images coming out of Ukraine are heartbreaking but overall Russia is losing. Putin has made two enormous strategic errors.

First, he thought he could exploit divisions in the West and NATO. Instead, he has reinvigorated NATO and the EU more than any time in decades. Second, he deeply misunderstood the Ukrainian national identity and will to fight, particularly since his initial invasion of Crimea and eastern Ukraine in 2014.

Instead of being greeted as liberators or collapsing the government, he has mobilized the entire country against him.

It was an honor to meet with President @iingwen and to join my colleagues from both sides of the aisle in reaffirming our commitment to Taiwan and its self-determination. This morning I spoke with the CEO of Vistra Energy, a North Texas based energy company, who shared a very troubling account of our state’s and ERCOT’s response leading up to this week’s storm. They also shared some of the commonsense, temporary actions they took to prepare for the storm that allowed their energy production units to perform much better than the companies who didn’t.

Temperatures are expected to rise today across North Texas and while we may be on our way out of this storm, our state remains in a crisis. As we work to recover, I will continue to ensure @fema remains a good partner. To do so, we need to assess the current damage. .@TDEM is undertaking a statewide effort to collect damage assessment data from the storm. If your home or business has been damaged by the storm, please report it here and TDEM will share your damage information with @fema:

While the worst of the storm is over, the work to restore power continues and efforts to recover are just beginning. I will continue working to get answers & to make sure North Texans know about available resources. Subscribe to my newsletter for updates: allred.house.gov/contact/newsle… In the near future, I will update North Texans about the federal resources available to help individuals, through @fema, & small businesses, through @SBAgov, recover from this crisis. Right now, there are still a few things we should all be aware of as the crisis remains ongoing.
