Mr. President, I go home to my district daily. Each morning, I wake up, and I go and fight for my neighbors.

It is my constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. But, it is my moral duty to fight for my constituents. As the Trump shutdown continues in its 20th day, federal food assistance programs – including WIC, school breakfast and lunch programs, the Emergency Food Assistance Program, and SNAP – are in peril, potentially leaving millions with the fear of going hungry. Because of the Trump shutdown, thousands of families are at risk of being evicted from their homes as @HUDgov cannot renew low-income housing contracts. And, @HUDgov's Real Estate Assessment Center is not conducting inspections, putting the health and safety of tenants at risk.
