I’m deeply concerned about the break-in & vandalization of my Dearborn office today. Our door & windows were smashed & memorabilia – especially John’s items – was broken. Thankfully, my staff & I are safe & no one was hurt, but we must also recognize the impact attacks like this one & constant threats have had on my staff & all Congressional staff. This needs to stop now.

I was lucky enough that I could keep John at home. More people should be able to do that without sitting on waiting lists or balancing being a family caregiver and keeping food on the table.

On MLK weekend and the Women’s March one would hope respect, inclusion, unity, equality might be the messages of the weekend. Nathan Philips, a veteran soldier, was in DC to participate in the Indigenous People’s March. He defended this country, he formerly headed the Native Youth Alliance, is “the keeper of the sacred pipes” and leads an annual Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
