MONUMENTAL ELECTION EARTHQUAKE IN ARIZONA TONIGHT: Consumer advocates & clean energy candidates defeated Turning Point USA in a huge utility election and FLIPPED the majority of the utility board. SRP will be the largest utility in the country with a clean energy majority. 🧵
TPUSA pumped in an unprecedented amount of money into the election — no one in Arizona had ever seen anything like it before. Still, voters came out in droves against TPUSA. Turnout was more than 400% of 2024 turnout.

Housing affordability is a statewide issue that won’t be solved by a patchwork of city-by-city fixes. It’s a crisis that requires bold, statewide solutions -- including preemption.
First, what is preemption? It is a legal doctrine that allows a higher level of govt to override a lower level of govt. Oftentimes, preemption looks like the federal govt banning state govt from doing something. Or a state govt stopping a city council from doing something.
