This is a fascinating thread from @AmandaMarcotte which asks the question "Does anyone really believe Acosta did something wrong?" And I have to admit after all this time I still don't understand the psychology of MAGA world to answer with any confidence.
Everything Amanda says in that thread has been my standard opinion on the subject for quite a while: That everyone in American politics is to some extent a bad TV trial lawyer, willing to argue anything with fake sincerity to score points for their side. Now I'm not so sure.
Maybe there is something psychological happening in which a lot of people are internalizing the bullshit. Or maybe in a culture with no tether to objective truth, in which it is difficult to separate reality from its own image, a nation of wrestling fans stopped valuing truth.
I saw this picture in an article today. Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Lee Atwater.
Just look at these lunatic creeps. It boggles the mind.
One forced his wife into orgies against her will while engineering violence for Ukranian madmen, one was caught on tape discussing how to manipulate right-wing racial hate for electoral advantage, and one become a literal Batman villain.
How is the world so broken that these psycho mutants could slither their way up to the highest levels of authority?
So this happened at a Beto campaign HQ a few nights ago in Austin.
Here's another pig head sign placed in Austin, targeting both Cruz and Beto.
Red Guards Austin website: "An action was taken on behalf of the boycott of the bourgeois elections. Militants placed severed pigs heads and placards protesting the elections at polling places and campaign offices in and around Austin. We received the following photographs."
I can actually see why cultural malcontents and objectively bad people support Trump with only a modicum of secret embarrassment at his bumbling paranoia and petty drama. But I cannot understand anyone who would cultishly idolize and fetishize this abjectly shitty weirdo.
Say what you want about the die hard Obama fanatics, at least the guy was charming.
RT @bariweiss: Unlike you hysterical women of the left, they have genuine and deep political disagreement about very hot subjects, but in ways that I like.
RT @bariweiss: What remains true about this group is that I am bizarrely enamored of them for reasons that are carefully considered and not disgustingly brazen. Now let Sam Harris use his skull calipers to give you the epic "red pill" on race & IQ.
Very much agree with @MuslimIQ here about recording. Also, intervene if your privilege allows it. As an attorney I would have never allowed this go down this way. Anyone who can safely get in a cop's face in this situation should.
Side note for my young attorney followers: Ethics rules allow you to solicit a client directly if it's pro bono. If you see someone being hassled by authorities unfairly, walk up and say: "I'm an attorney, would you like me to be your attorney and help you free of charge?"
Every time I've done this, the person has said yes and the cop suddenly remembered he had very important things to do elsewhere.
