We present light-sheet microscopy combined with structured illumination.

This enables rapid volumetric imaging in a light-sheet format with doubled resolution.

This will need a few tweets to discuss the details... 1/n

biorxiv.org/content/10.110… First, why would you want to combine LSFM and SIM?

I have listed below the pro and cons of both.
Combining both while keeping their advantages would enable gentle volumetric imaging at doubled resolution.

Please send some of your favorite pictures (microscopy, astronomy, pets/animals, landscapes, clouds, airplanes,..).

I am not in a good spot right now and would appreciate something to cheer up/distract. @bojuichang and Etai imaged some fun cells on the OPM. I think there is also a movie that should be fun.

Focus on Microscopy Conference will be online this year.

I hope to see you all microscope builders and users there, remotely!

@FOMconferences focusonmicroscopy.org I am kinda glad, as in person would have been a no-go for our lab.

Besides health and visa woes, getting stranded abroad would have been an additional risk I would not want to take.

Ten years ago, on Thanksgiving, I arrived in the US. I underestimated the importance of the holiday and found myself stranded at Janelia research campus. Security was supposed to leave me a key, but there was nobody to be found. It was kinda cold and I got a bit desperate..1/n Given that you find people working on Xmas or basically all year round, I was a bit perplexed. Was there some emergency evacuation? I walked to the housing complex, but found no bells on the door and I had no key. I yelled but no reply and it looked like nobody around... 2/n
