Really appreciate @curtischangRB’s response to @DavidAFrench being disinvited from the PCA panel on political polarization.

Read the 🧵 of excerpts then the whole thing.

“The dynamic is this: while the extremists are willing to generate very public mob behavior to cancel” + “the voice of what I'll call the "thoughtful evangelical," those who support that "thoughtful evangelical" voice don't quite know how to respond. We tend to stay silent.”

“We stay silent because it is so hard to respond to unfair attacks.” +

A 🧵 on “effeminate” as a slur.

I grew up in the Deep South that was so entrenched in chauvinism that calling another boy “girl” was the ultimate insult (later it was “gay”).

I played soccer, baseball, basketball, and tennis.

I also played the piano from 4 y/o. + The chauvinism was so entrenched that a girl in my 5th grade class made fun of me for playing piano because “only girls do that” (my dad assured me Beethoven was plenty manly).

Beyond this, feelings were diminished and women were sidelined for being “too emotional.” +

I'm preparing to preach from 1 Corinthians 5 on preserving a culture of grace through practicing church discipline.

I just read this from Richard Hays' commentary and share it as a 🧵

"Only very recently has the church begun to acknowledge instances of sexual abuse of women + "and children by church leaders and members. The example of 1 Corinthians 5 should encourage us to name such violations for what they are and to exercise swift and severe discipline upon the offenders. +

I have been pro-life my whole life

It drove our decision to adopt 3 children

We have donated to Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Until recently it has driven our voting

Yet I have not been able to celebrate
#RoeVsWadeOverturned—a former dream—like I thought I would.

Why?

A 🧵 I believe it is an ends/means situation

What drives my pro-life conviction is the Imago Dei, the belief that the babies carried by mothers in any situation bear the image of God and are worthy of dignity and honor.

Dignity and honor is not what got Roe overturned. +
