We’ve seen a worrying trend in our welfare system.

More and more people are being written off work unnecessarily, and spending is growing at an unsustainable rate.

So we’re doing something about it🧵 Graphic with the text: Our plan for the welfare system. We now spend £69 billion on benefits for people of working age with a disability or health condition.

That's not right. It's not sustainable.

Today is not about making our safety net less generous. It's about eligibility and who should be entitled to support. Graphic with the text: Spending on benefits for people of working age with a disability or health condition is going up.

Following today’s ruling, I’m taking the extraordinary step of introducing emergency legislation to confirm Rwanda is safe.

I will not allow a foreign court, like the European Court of Human Rights, to block these flights.

Here’s the plan in full ⬇️
1/5 Prime Minister Rishi Sunak: "When I said I would stop the boats. I meant it." We need to end the merry-go-round.

We’ve been working on a new international treaty with Rwanda and we will ratify it without delay.

We’ll provide a guarantee in law that those who are relocated from the UK to Rwanda will be protected against removal from Rwanda.

Anti-social behaviour is more than just a nuisance - it ruins communities.

In March we launched an Action Plan to stamp it out, making our streets safer and building a better future for our children and grandchildren – and it’s working.

Action taken so far 👇🧵 Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visits Kilburn Police Station where he met with Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley and other serving officers. ❌ From 8 November nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, will be illegal.

We won't tolerate intimidation on our streets, or children’s play areas being littered with empty nitrous oxide canisters.

This week I took long-term decisions to build a brighter future and change our country.

This change will:

🏘️ Transform our towns
🚆 Boost our transport
📚 Improve our education
🚭 Reduce cancer deaths

Here’s how👇 Prime Minister Rishi Sunak works as he travels to attend the European Political Community Summit (EPC). On Sunday, I slammed the brakes on anti-motorist measures.

For many, our car is a lifeline. We use them to get to work or see our family.

But too often drivers feel under attack.

Our new plan will put drivers back in the driving seat and improve their experience on the road. Plan for drivers will see smoother journeys, easier parking, stop unfair enforcement, tackle inconsiderate driving and help switch to zero emission cars.

Politicians have for too long taken towns for granted and focused on cities.

That changes today.

Now we’re putting local people in charge.

And for the first time, towns will be backed by government to succeed for the long term.

This is how 👇🧵 Photo of Rishi Sunak speaking with local people at a market First we’ll ensure towns develop a long-term plan based on local people’s priorities and put the plan to local people for their views. Graphic: Putting local people in charge Long-term decisions for a brighter future

We are a nation of drivers.

Most of us use a car every day and, for many, life would be difficult without their car.

But too often, drivers feel under attack.

That changes today with a long-term plan to improve drivers' experience on the road.

Here’s how 👇🧵 Graphic that reads: Our plan for drivers - slamming the brakes on anti-motorist measures. Long-term decisions for a brighter future. We’re introducing a series of measures to prevent Labour politicians from punishing people for simply living their lives 👇 Graphic that reads: Plan for drivers: X Ruling out blanket 20mm zones X No LTNs without local consent X Clamping down on rip-off fines Long-term decisions for a brighter future.

To all Ukrainians,

The UK will always be by your side as your staunch and unwavering friend.

On your independence day, here’s a glimpse of just some of the support the UK has delivered on land, in the air and at sea 🧵👇 Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and President Zelenskyy of Ukraine meeting Ukrainian recruits training in the UK. ✈️ In the air, I announced earlier this year with @ZelenskyyUa that the UK would train Ukrainian pilots to operate @NATO-standard fighter jets.

The first pilots arrived in the UK last week to begin their training.

I want to protect the price of your pint at the pub.

And now the UK has left the EU, we can do just that.

So we’re bringing in one of the biggest shake ups to the alcohol duty system in the last 140 years.

The plan 🧵👇 Graphic reads: Brexit guarantee to back British pubs. Protecting pubs at the heart of British communities. Tax paid on pints in the pub now cheaper than the supermarket. Lower prices in shops for UK favourites like Irish cream, pre-mixed gin & tonic and prosecco. New tax relief for small producers to help grow their business. Too often, pubs at the heart of our communities are undercut by supermarket competitors.

So we’re levelling the playing field, making the duty paid on pints in pubs up to 11p cheaper than at the shop.

That means cheaper drinks when you go out, leaving more money in your pocket. Graphic reads: Tax paid on pints now up to 11p cheaper than supermarkets.

Labour’s energy policy might as well have been written by Just Stop Oil.

They're even funded by the same person.

And their policies would threaten both our energy security and jobs here in the UK.

Today I took action to stop that from happening 👇🧵 Graphic reading: "Just announced: Hundreds of new oil & gas licenses. Growing the economy, supporting 213,000 jobs & powering Britain from Britain." I'm backing future oil and gas licensing rounds in the North Sea.

Labour would ban these licenses. But I want to increase domestic gas production and reduce our reliance on hostile foreign states.

Labour’s approach would protect Russian jobs.

My plan boosts British jobs 🇬🇧 The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Scotland Alister Jack, visits a gas plant near Aberdeen.

This is what we’re up against.

The Labour Party, a subset of lawyers, criminal gangs - they're all on the same side, propping up a system of exploitation that profits from getting people to the UK illegally.

I have a plan to stop it.

Here’s how 🧵

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1… First, I recently passed laws that will mean if you come to the UK illegally:

❌You can’t claim asylum.

❌You can’t misuse our modern slavery protections.

❌You can’t make false human rights claims.

❌You can't stay.

These laws go further than any government has gone before. Graphic reads: Illegal Migration Bill receives Royal Assent.

Today we make one of the most significant announcements in NHS history.

We’re setting out a long-term plan to staff the NHS for today and for years to come.

Here’s what it means🧵 First - we're training lots more staff right here in the UK.

This is what the NHS has told us it needs to care for us into the future - that’s what we’re delivering.

So by 2037, there will be at least an extra:

🩺 170k nurses
🥼 60k doctors
❤️‍🩹 71k healthcare professionals

1/ Firstly, I’m launching a group of specialist police officers who’ll go after grooming gangs across the country to bring them to justice 🧵 New grooming gangs taskforce 2/ And I will ensure the perpetrators of these crimes receive the most severe punishments.

➡️halve inflation

➡️grow the economy

➡️cut waiting lists

➡️stop the boats

This is our focus. Just this week we’ve... Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in his Downing Street office 2/....set out our plan to tackle anti-social behaviour.

1/ We have just agreed the biggest trade deal since Brexit.

Joining 11 other countries in the Indo-Pacific, it’s set to boost the UK economy by £1.8bn.

Here’s how the CPTPP will deliver on our pledge to grow the economy 🧵 2/ These countries are home to 500 million people and are worth 12% of global GDP

By cutting trade barriers and increasing our market access, this deal is set to increase UK wages by £800 million compared to 2019 levels as a result.

1/ China and the Chinese Communist Party represent the largest threat to Britain and the world’s security and prosperity this century.

Read this thread👇on how I will face down China. 2/ I would close all 30 of China’s Confucius Institutes in the UK - the highest number in the world.

Almost all UK government spending on Mandarin language teaching at school is channelled through university-based Confucius Institutes, thereby promoting Chinese soft power.

1/ The energy regulator OFGEM has announced that the energy price cap will rise in April.

Without action this would be very tough for millions of families.

So we're going to step in and directly help people manage those extra costs with a £350 Energy Bills Rebate.

Explainer 👇 2/ The first part of the rebate spreads the extra costs of this year’s energy price shock.

In October all domestic electricity customers will receive a £200 discount on their bills.

People will then have five years to repay that discount in equal instalments of £40 a year.

No, I’m not ignoring it, and I'm definitely not ‘writing it off’ 👇 2/ Clearly criminals have sought to exploit our support schemes.

We’re going to do everything we can to get that money back and go after those who took advantage of the pandemic.
