I want every young person to get the opportunities they need to thrive.
That's why we're taking bold action to deliver 100,000 more apprenticeships a year.
🧵Here's how we'll do this 👇
1/6
Since 2010, we have revolutionised our apprenticeship system, delivering over 5.8 million starts, now with nearly 70% of occupations covered by apprenticeships.
But we want to go further to ensure the next generation have the security of a high-quality career.

We all know that Labour doesn’t have a plan.
But what does that actually mean if they got into power? (1/6) 🧵
Uncertainty.
Who knows what they would do in government?
They won't tell us how they would fund any of their policies.
They refused to meet our defence spending pledge.
But what is the cost of this uncertainty?

We’ve seen a worrying trend in our welfare system.
More and more people are being written off work unnecessarily, and spending is growing at an unsustainable rate.
So we’re doing something about it🧵
We now spend £69 billion on benefits for people of working age with a disability or health condition.
That's not right. It's not sustainable.
Today is not about making our safety net less generous. It's about eligibility and who should be entitled to support.

Following today’s ruling, I’m taking the extraordinary step of introducing emergency legislation to confirm Rwanda is safe.
I will not allow a foreign court, like the European Court of Human Rights, to block these flights.
Here’s the plan in full ⬇️ 1/5
We need to end the merry-go-round.
We’ve been working on a new international treaty with Rwanda and we will ratify it without delay.
We’ll provide a guarantee in law that those who are relocated from the UK to Rwanda will be protected against removal from Rwanda.

Anti-social behaviour is more than just a nuisance - it ruins communities.
In March we launched an Action Plan to stamp it out, making our streets safer and building a better future for our children and grandchildren – and it’s working.
Action taken so far 👇🧵
❌ From 8 November nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, will be illegal.
We won't tolerate intimidation on our streets, or children’s play areas being littered with empty nitrous oxide canisters.

This week I took long-term decisions to build a brighter future and change our country.
This change will:
🏘️ Transform our towns
🚆 Boost our transport
📚 Improve our education
🚭 Reduce cancer deaths
Here’s how👇
On Sunday, I slammed the brakes on anti-motorist measures.
For many, our car is a lifeline. We use them to get to work or see our family.
But too often drivers feel under attack.
Our new plan will put drivers back in the driving seat and improve their experience on the road.

Politicians have for too long taken towns for granted and focused on cities.
That changes today.
Now we’re putting local people in charge.
And for the first time, towns will be backed by government to succeed for the long term.
This is how 👇🧵
First we’ll ensure towns develop a long-term plan based on local people’s priorities and put the plan to local people for their views.

We are a nation of drivers.
Most of us use a car every day and, for many, life would be difficult without their car.
But too often, drivers feel under attack.
That changes today with a long-term plan to improve drivers' experience on the road.
Here’s how 👇🧵
We’re introducing a series of measures to prevent Labour politicians from punishing people for simply living their lives 👇

To all Ukrainians,
The UK will always be by your side as your staunch and unwavering friend.
On your independence day, here’s a glimpse of just some of the support the UK has delivered on land, in the air and at sea 🧵👇
✈️ In the air, I announced earlier this year with @ZelenskyyUa that the UK would train Ukrainian pilots to operate @NATO-standard fighter jets.
The first pilots arrived in the UK last week to begin their training.
I want to protect the price of your pint at the pub.
And now the UK has left the EU, we can do just that.
So we’re bringing in one of the biggest shake ups to the alcohol duty system in the last 140 years.
The plan 🧵👇
Too often, pubs at the heart of our communities are undercut by supermarket competitors.
So we’re levelling the playing field, making the duty paid on pints in pubs up to 11p cheaper than at the shop.
That means cheaper drinks when you go out, leaving more money in your pocket.

Labour’s energy policy might as well have been written by Just Stop Oil.
They're even funded by the same person.
And their policies would threaten both our energy security and jobs here in the UK.
Today I took action to stop that from happening 👇🧵
I'm backing future oil and gas licensing rounds in the North Sea.
Labour would ban these licenses. But I want to increase domestic gas production and reduce our reliance on hostile foreign states.
Labour’s approach would protect Russian jobs.
My plan boosts British jobs 🇬🇧

This is what we’re up against.
The Labour Party, a subset of lawyers, criminal gangs - they're all on the same side, propping up a system of exploitation that profits from getting people to the UK illegally.
This week I’ve been delivering your priorities across the UK and around the world.
🇺🇦 Strengthening global security
🏥 Cutting waiting lists
📈 Growing the economy
Let’s get into it 👇
I always knew my first time hosting a world leader at Chequers would be a special moment.
It was an honour to welcome @ZelenskyyUa back to the UK to reaffirm our support for Ukraine.
We stand united 🇬🇧🇺🇦

At home and abroad, our focus is on building a better future.
This week ⬇️ 1/5
On Wednesday @POTUS and I reflected on the huge progress made in the 25 years since the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.
In that time Northern Ireland has become a thriving and dynamic part of the UK, and I know has an even brighter future ahead.

I will do whatever it takes to root out evil grooming gangs who prey on vulnerable women and young girls.
1/ Firstly, I’m launching a group of specialist police officers who’ll go after grooming gangs across the country to bring them to justice 🧵 2/ And I will ensure the perpetrators of these crimes receive the most severe punishments.
1/ At the end of the first quarter of 2023, I’m proud of the action we have taken to:
➡️halve inflation
➡️grow the economy
➡️reduce debt
➡️cut waiting lists
➡️stop the boats
This is our focus. Just this week we’ve...
2/....set out our plan to tackle anti-social behaviour.
I was in Chelmsford on Monday talking to police officers about how the plan will clamp down on offenders and make sure they are swiftly punished – so we can restore pride in the places we call home.

1/ We have just agreed the biggest trade deal since Brexit.
Joining 11 other countries in the Indo-Pacific, it’s set to boost the UK economy by £1.8bn.
Here’s how the CPTPP will deliver on our pledge to grow the economy 🧵
2/ These countries are home to 500 million people and are worth 12% of global GDP
By cutting trade barriers and increasing our market access, this deal is set to increase UK wages by £800 million compared to 2019 levels as a result.

1) Today I am introducing new measures to deliver on our promise to tackle illegal immigration.
We are announcing a new deal with Albania to speed up the return of Albanian asylum seekers, who make up a third of those arriving to the UK by small boats. 2/ We are introducing a new, dedicated and unified Small Boats Command Centre to step up how we police the channel.
This will bring together our military and civilian capabilities in a coordinated response to intelligence, channel boat crossing, processing and enforcement.
