School can get excellent results, post reels and pics of kids, plastering socials with them. But also treat staff and kids like dirt. One such school getting the plaudits and attention today puts a red slip in the results envelope of the kids they don’t want to take a picture of for socials and lots of kids leave in tears. On further inspection of said school, I found it has a well documented history of losing tribunals with teachers on discriminatory grounds. Reading that, it sounds like a toxic hell hole.

Social media is a complete fake trough of turd at times. Here’s the discriminatory case which isn’t hard to find, read the full report for a full take on what a school can really be like behind the social wall gov.uk/employment-tri…

The ignorance around how hard teachers have to work just to keep their heads above water is staggering at times. The ‘teachers don’t know what hard work is’ mantra, attached to the ‘6 week holidays’ and ‘3.30 finish’ jibes. These are mostly ppl with absolutely no concept of what… twitter.com/i/web/status/1… I probably take it more personally because I know first hand how hard both my parents worked to sustain themselves. Anyone enjoy remote learning more than face to face? There are certain elements I actually prefer tbh! I'll give you one example, classroom management - the high octane nature of managing a large KS3 group in one room is gone. I enjoy that challenge, usually, but not when knackered or grumpy. It's much harder for one child to properly disrupt another if you have presenter control!

So, today I shadowed Sam Strickland @Strickomaster, the headteacher of the Duston School. His day started at 8.30am with year 8 assembly. He led part of the assembly and set the tone... (thread) ... 8.45 ish, it was around almost all of the form rooms at pace (there were lots!) checking in on staff and students, making sure teachers were ok etc...
