Legally blind, Brian (not real name) receives government disability income assistance. He's entitled to $1,269/month from ODSP.

@MacLeodLisa & @fordnation say the best social program is a job. Finding a job is hard, but Brian found PT work 6 months ago. Earns 1,842/month. Because he is working, Brian's ODSP is reduced from $1,269 down to $448 per month (average over 12 months).
Between his job & ODSP, he has $2,290/month to live. Enough for his basic needs & maybe save some money…because who knows how long his job will last. BUT...
