2016 paper by F.S. Berlin, a psychiatrist specializing in sexual disorders.

"Gender identity... refers to the essence of how one feels internally, i.e. male/female"

"Gender role refers to certain expectations that society may place on males/females... Image "...A few decades ago... men might be encouraged to become doctors, and women, nurses".

"Cisgender [are persons whose] internal sense of gender identity (male/female) corresponds w/ their external anatomy".

🧵Fausto-Sterling, responsible for the misleading, inflated 1.7% no. re the prevalence of "intersex", says she's committed to "challenging ideas about the male/female divide", that society should ask "Should there be only two sexes?", & proposes to "revamp our sex/gender systems" Image She holds a Ph.D. in developmental genetics and is a professor emerita of Biology and Gender Studies at Brown University.

Her personal webpage boasts that her work "challenges entrenched scientific beliefs" and says her ambition is to "restructure dichotomous conversations..."

1/ Businesses cannot simply avoid DEI & freely compete against those that do have it, and see who wins in the free market.

Vague & broad anti-discrimination norms were the precursor for today's DEI administrative bloat. They created uncertainty regarding discrimination lawsuits
Image 2/ Businesses needed some method to protect themselves against lawsuits, leading to the creation of DEI offices & bureaucracies meant to signal to courts they're in compliance w/ the latest "best practices" in the arena. Those were indirectly imposed on their business environment Image

There has been a longstanding, intentional, & coordinated deception about the nature of puberty blockers and related treatments, let alone the obfuscation of their known & unknown long-term effects.

This was not targeted solely at the general public, but also at academics

A researcher on the treatment of "transgender youth" (I'm not expressing any view about the validity of this concept - I really don't know) presented it as a given that doctors' failure to go along...

This "workbook" makes for such an infuriating read that it was almost impossible to read through ("emotional labor!")

Nevertheless, it's important to read it carefully, so that all of its irrationality and manipulation tactics are on the table and well understood.

1/ Image Some observations:

None of this is about helping disadvantaged students. Or math.

It's solely focused on teachers & administrators, and THEIR beliefs & "journeys"

I.e., the perpetrators/clientele of this drivel, not the people who are subjected to its disastrous outcomes

Hate speech laws & their empirical basis, 🧵

Critics of hate speech laws often maintain that the vague terminology they use makes them highly susceptible to abuse & political bias

& probably generates considerable chilling effects by its very existence Critics also often point to the more ridiculous cases that might fall under these definitions

& indicate that many involve offending people's feelings & other subjective reactions

Implying that many of the cases likely to be suppressed are not "true" instances of hate speech
