My favourite thing about today is that Finland & Sweden stood side-by-side as friends, neighbours, kindred spirits to submit a joint NATO application this morning … but will hammer seven shades of shite out of each other in ice hockey this evening

Anyone complaining about these dark winter evenings might do well to spare a thought for the good people of the village of Nuorgam in Finnish Lapland, who are due to next see the sun again at about noon on 17 January - or in 8 weeks time
