Yesterday may have been “freedom day” but now is not the time to play fast and loose with statistics. As the public are being asked to rely more on their own judgement it is vital that the government’s use of statistics helps inform that. We have some recommendations (a thread) Major policy decisions continue to be announced, supposedly informed by data, but with no evidence published – most recently the decision to place France on the amber-plus list, affecting the plans of millions. We expect that evidence to be published as a matter of urgency
