Opening statements from the prosecution in the Pittsburgh synagogue trial with stories of the 11 victims, starting with Cecil and David Rosenthal, who were described as "the boys" and walked from their group home to take their place to welcome congregants at the Tree of Life. Here in Bethel Park, where a crowd is forming into the event space at the Crown Plaza hotel for Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano. Former HUD Secretary Ben Carson is set to speak too. Looks like it’s gonna be a full house It’s hard to tell, but former WTAE anchor Wendy Bell, who was fired after racist comments and has since become a conservative firebrand and hosts a Facebook show, is here. She has stumped for Mastriano in the past.

OK, PA polls closed 30 mins ago. I am gonna live tweet some statewide and Allegheny County results for @PGHCityPaper. Follow along! If you have any requests, I might be able to get to them, let me know. In Allegheny County Council District 3, incumbent has a 80%-20% after big batch of mail-in ballots counted. These skew Democratic, so race certain to tighten, but a good haul in this competitive race. more on the race: pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/all…

INBOX: Republican candidate Tony Moreno, who initially ran for Pittsburgh mayor as a Democrat and lost, says he will rehire any city employee that are fired as a result of Mayor Peduto's new mandate requiring city employees be vaccinated by Dec. 22. Closing pitch for mayor of Pittsburgh as "I will bring back more unvaccinated people into the city during a pandemic" is something that's for sure.

Formerly a Republican from 2018-2019, Tony Moreno, who lost a Pittsburgh mayoral race as a Democrat, re-registered as a GOP and now is running as a Republican. pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/ton… Moreno, who only received about 13% of the Dem vote, made a splash this winter after @PGHCityPaper reported about his history of pro-Trump tweets."The great President Donald J Trump also has a responsibility to protect this country. ... Moreno, now running as a Republican, taking part in the long PA GOP tradition of going to a Black urban neighborhood and talk about how awful the city is and bringing up hyper-local issue (this time sewage) to try to politically capitalize on Barletta, who is now running for Gov, in Philadelphia

This article provides some examples where "luxury apartments" - which is just a marketing term used to sell units, even ones that aren't that nice - have been quickly converted into subsidized affordable housing. Lesson appears to be: building is good. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/… I don't know if there are any parallels to Pittsburgh. We just haven't had real development in so long. But I do think that NO ONE really knows what they are talking about vis a vis if new condos and apartments are pushing rents up. Hell, you might be able to argue the opposite.

Practically every inch under Florida is under water. The limestone bedrock beneath Florida is porous and basically all underwater caves, and can’t support tunnels. Level of naivety is astounding. This is apparently only one true tunnel in all of Florida and it may be the shortest tunnel in the world. This took 5 seconds of googling

Results of PA-45 were much much closer, and the challenge to mail-in ballots much more narrow, but from birds-eye view, what the PA GOP is doing has the same optics as Trump's fruitless challenge. It's saying GOP wanting to win is more important than actually winning elections. Vast majority of Pennsylvanians and others are only going to learn about this PA-45 story right now. Because this was a circus, and the lesson the laypeople will take away is that if the GOP loses close races, they will just not abide by them.

UPDATE: PA SD-45

Dem Brewster maintains 17 vote lead after 280 provisionals counted in Westmoreland. Assumption was these would push GOP Zicarrelli into lead

PA Supreme Court still to decide if ~300 Allegheny mail-ins will be counted, mail-ins have been breaking to Brewster Looks like Commonwealth Court reversed the Allegheny County judge's decision to count those mail-ins. The decision is now remanded to court of common pleas. I am not sure what this means. @benwren can you explain
