So, yesterday around midday, D suggested that we go to a restaurant for dinner in the evening. I strung together a few excuses and said that I'd cook. My default position is staying home. (Thread.) A few hours later, she said, "What if I said that I'd already made the booking at the restaurant for 6pm?" I later learned that she secretly filmed my reaction to this.

Salary is not a measure of how hard you work, it’s a measure of how valuable your work is in this employment market. There may be rationale behind incentivising valuable work, but don’t confuse that with virtue deserving reward. Someone on $180k does not work four times harder than someone on $45k. If anything, the opposite trend is more likely.

Well, it's been two years since my last drink of alcohol. If you're quietly struggling, here are a few thoughts. I hope one or two help. I've found it helpful to think of it less as a rejection of drinking and more of an adventure in pursuing clarity.
