Chief of Staff for the incredible team at @projectlincoln . Unapologetically loud. Mom, wife, smartass. Ally. Exhausted moderate southerner. On 🧵same handle.

Today @ProjectLincoln is at the Trump reenactment of the 1934 Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden, reminding people of the similarities of the events. We have sent two billboard trucks. Realizing what this event was, our vendor began getting intimidated today. 🧵
He contacted us to let us know that he was too afraid for the safety of his drivers to run any anti-Trump messaging anywhere near Madison Square Garden. Keep in mind, the event is in New York City, hardly a Trump stronghold. And yet, they were genuinely afraid.

As a Floridian, after 2 hurricanes hit this state in 2 weeks, I know I for one am glad that the Republican legislature and @GovRonDeSantis focused on culture wars instead of homeowners insurance the past two legislative sessions. 🧵
I mean, I know my fellow Floridians agree that I'd much rather have immigrants shipped to Martha's Vineyard on my dime than have them repairing roofs and helping clean up Florida.

I don't know how many of you realize this, but yesterday was ONE MONTH OUT from the election. I cannot believe I am saying this, but anyone who is honest will tell you it's way too close to call. People ask me all the time, "How can I get involved? What can I do?" 🧵
1. Make sure you are registered to vote. This seems basic, but there is a lot of fuckery going on in GOP led states with the voting rolls. Make sure you are registered. Encourage everyone you know to check their registration status, too.

Stepping out of my @ProjectLincoln hat for a minute to step into my 7th generation, old Florida self for a second. Y'all #Helene was devastating. Not because it hit a major metropolitan area, but actually, because it didn't. 🧵
The area that #Helene hit in Florida is rural. There are no major cities. The people are simple, blue collar, paycheck to paycheck people.

Y'all, I was a Republican for 22 years. Mainly because I believed in the small government, stay the f*ck out of my business bit. But that's not the party anymore. And if the future looks like what I'm seeing tonight, I am SO here for it. #MindYourOwnDamnBusiness #DoSomething
I have NEVER seen anything like this. Not on the right OR left. The energy will give you goosebumps. There is hope and excitement for the first time in 8 years. People are JOYFUL! THIS is the America I remember. This is MY America.

One of the crazy cool things about working for @ProjectLincoln is the incredible embarrassment of riches we have on staff. 1/
I'm currently working on something about the evangelical outcry after the opening ceremony of the Olympics. As a former evangelical, it's super neat to pick up the phone and call @BenHowe to bounce ideas off of. 2/

🧵This is awfully convenient. I'm glad @RonDeSantis gives a shit about Israel and the Jewish community when it is politically beneficial to him. Too bad this hasn't been his position all along....
Where was @RonDeSantis 's disgust when Nazi imagery and messages were showing up throughout his state? newsweek.com/florida-antise…

🧵So the spin out of the @RonDeSantis campaign is that "he broke Twitter" and that "there were so many people who wanted to listen to him that that caused a malfunction on the platform." Let's explore this... 1/
340 million people live in the US. Of that number, approximately 155 million voted in the last presidential election. Less than 500k people tuned in last night. For context, that is just .15% of the US population and .32% of the voting population. Not even 1% y'all. 2/ yeah

For a state full of Republican politicians who are constantly screaming "Florida's open for business" they sure are doing a crappy job of selling our state to the business community by taking on both tourism and the corporation that put Florida on the map. 1/
What corporation in their right mind would move to Florida when our governor and legislature will cancel them if they don't tow the line? What corporation wants to move its employee base here when the state is banning math books for the sake of artificial culture wars? 2/

I am a senior staffer at The Lincoln Project. I’m also a woman and a mother to two young boys. I have seen a lot written and said about the organization I work for and I feel like it is important to say some things of my own. [THREAD]
I joined @ProjectLincoln because I believed in its mission. As a woman, the rhetoric out of Trump and his enablers scared and disgusted me. As a mother, I felt that it was my duty to fight for a better, safer country for my children. 2/
