This week’s Israeli elections seem to have acted as a trigger for the uneducated in ME history & the usual anti-Israel suspects to advise us all on Twitter that it is Israel’s fault that 2.2m WB Palestinians can’t vote. (1) This seems an opportune time to state a few facts on the actual status of the WB. Opponents state that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law; constitute an obstacle to peace; and threaten to make a 2-state solution to the ME conflict impossible - ALL UNTRUE (2)

Why is this important? Because Walker trades on her “As a Jew” status. In fact she doubles down on it. Speaking as a “Black Jew” she uses her self-declared double victim status as a force shield against accusations of AS 2) But is #JackieWalker actually Jewish? The first thing to understand is that Jews are both a religion & a “people”. You CAN be Jewish without believing in any religion, or G-d, or Moses & you aren’t disqualified if you eat bacon & never go to synagogue.

(1) Let’s not go into too much detail of the historical narrative - suffice it to say that Israel is a 70 year old democratic country broadly populated by 1.8 million Arabs and 6 million Jews. It became an independent State in 1948 roughly at the same time as Pakistan & Jordan. (2)
