Libertarianism is fundamentally conciliatory if politics are remotely adversarial - which is most of the time. Elaborate legal mental gymnastics and increasingly desperate pleas to be left alone are toothless and the Left will gladly maul you in protracted legal battles anyways. Libertarians are gladly selling the rope that they themselves will be hanged with by the Left - namely the legal and political norms that will rapidly legitimize their inevitable defeat by the Left and make it harder for serious people to right the ship back towards sanity.

Republicans seem to have a very naive and unshakable belief in the perpetual parity of American politics. They believe Republicans will always be a competitive opponent to the Democrats and that outside of a rare exceptions like CA and NY, every state will always be up for grabs. It's this irrational comfort in the continued sameness of American politics that keeps them blind to the looming /certainty/ of a deep-blue Texas. It is exactly this antiquated mindset that has kept the frog totally unaware of the overwhelmingly boiling pot it must escape from.

Sitting on your hands while corporations with no loyalty to the United States or it's great workers abuse and furlough them during an economic crisis while simultaneously spending billions in corporate welfare on stock buybacks and executive bonuses. Now that's Conservative Inc. The definition of conservatism in America has been twisted by corporate lobbyists and bought-and-paid-for think tanks to be one that is solely comprised of dogmatic fiscal liberalism, limited government, and lukewarm social conservatism.

Do you guys have a humiliation fetish or something? Take the L already. Hispanics may be culturally conservative (hardly) but looking at voting statistics you'd never know it. Even historically anti-communist Cubans don't even vote Republican in any significant majorities. Import the underclass of Guatemala, Venezuela, Honduras and more - unsurprisingly you get the exact same conditions in the United States. You're going to get less freedom of speech, more gun control, and more oppressive leftist government. Decades of outreach has yielded nothing.
