Headline points are:

In the year to June 2021, 17,088 people entered immigration detention in the UK, 11 per cent fewer than in the previous year.

gov.uk/government/sta… Numbers entering detention fell sharply throughout the pandemic, but the number of people entering detention in the second quarter of 2021 (April to June) was comparable to pre-pandemic levels - 5,878, compared to 5,792 in Q2 2019.
