It really is infuriating to see people moan that the SNP hasn’t delivered independence yet.

This has been the aim of the SNP for the entire 90 years of its existence.

The idea that it doesn’t want independence because it hasn’t managed to hold 2 indyrefs in a decade is absurd. We are closer to Scottish independence than we have ever been, yet some people seem determined to torpedo the best and only vehicle to get there.

To hold the first independence referendum within the first 15 years of having a Scottish Parliament was nothing short of miraculous.

I often think how ridiculous the Union will look when it is viewed through the lens of history after independence. Historians will look back and wonder how it took so long.

An example in my next tweet: "Can you seriously imagine a time when the major news networks routinely tilted the weather map to pretend Scotland was much smaller than it is."

Thread: If the people of Scotland fully understood what the UK Government has done to them, the UK would have broken up years ago. In a truly Orwellian twist, we were never taught Scottish history in school. We were encouraged not to speak Scots, or "slang" as it was referred to. A cursory look around our towns and cities shows statues of people we detested. Monarchs that weren't ours, statues that were meant to symbolise "Britishness".
Even the statue of Wellington, erected in 1844, that Glaswegians top with traffic cones, what had he to do with us?
