The annual storm overflow figures for England have just been released by @DefraGovUK and, as ever, they make grim reading 🧵⬇️ The headline statistics are these:

- There were 301,091 'spill events' in England in 2022
- These lasted for a combined 1,754,921 hours.
- That is the equivalent of 200 years of sewage, in a single year.

It seems that @SouthernWater have updated their BeachBouy interactive map.

They will no longer change the colour of a bathing location to red if a sewage (CSO) release doesn't meet certain criteria.
