1/12 He persuaded an elderly Mohammedan woman to appear veiled before his court and whilst personating the aforesaid Hindu girl, professed her love for the Subadar and was ready to marry him, but was prevented by her father under the influence of his co-religionists.

Did you all know that there was a time when ruling dynasties of both eastern & western costal regions of India were from what is now Pakistan?

1/21 Muzaffarid dynasty of Gujarat- founded by Zafar Khan I in 1407 after declaring independence from the Tughluq dynasty of Delhi Sultanate.

Sultanate of Gujarat was a major medieval power of Indian subcontinent and Arabian Sea in 15-16 century.

A beautiful Timurid Quran : Unfortunately sold by Christie’s for £7 million.

The Quran was likely to have been commissioned by the one of the grandsons of Amir Timur, the Asian conqueror. ImageImage The manuscript’s aesthetic properties stop the heart. Each of its 534 folios are dyed in rich hues of deep blue, turquoise, pink, purple, orange, green and cream—the kaleidoscopic variety meant to both honour God in all His infinite variety. Image

So this is about the "Fabulous creature of Winters" from the deep forests & snow mountains of Kashmir, locally known as "Rantas" (plural rantse).

Rantas is metonym for mysterious witch in Kashmiri folklore, known for abducting husbands & children among mortals.

1/11 By appearance she is a female with the size of one-and-half human having dishevelled & long hairs that reaches to her feet. Those hairs actually help her to hide her body.

She has also the wings from neck down to the feet, bestial teeth & extended arms.

According to one theory Chandragupta Maurya was originally from the Indus Valley/modern Pakistan not from the Eastern India as it is mostly believed.

He was the founder of Mauryan Empire, the largest empire in South Asia's history covering 5,000,000 km2.

1/6 Usually two possibilities are associated with this theory. First one is Chandragupta Maurya belonged to the Mor/Mori clan of Jatts. He was born in today's Pakistani Punjab and the name of his empire was also derived from the name of his clan.

The most important war of succession in history of Timurid Mughals.

The most powerful person of the most powerful empire of world can be defeated by a rebel brother if you know very little about art of warfare, military & politics.

Hard times make great people. And if Prince Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad later the Emperor Aurangzeb had lost this war, then maybe I wouldn't be also here today.

[Short Thread]

Most of the times we talk about Greek/Kushan sites of North Punjab and KPK (mainly the Gandhara region) but today here I'm going to share some facts related to such a forgotten site of Central Punjab, Satgarah. Currently it is a small town in District Okara.

1/4 Name- there are different theories about the origin of it's name and the most interesting is that when Alexander invaded the Indus Valley, some of his injured soliders (from the ancient town of Stageira in Macedonia) resided there and they named it Stageira.

Some interesting aspects about Noor Mahal of Bahawalpur

* It was built by the fifth ruler of Royal State, Nawab Sadiq Khan IV who often quoted as "Shah Jahan of Bahawalpur".

* It was built for Begum of Sadiq IV but spent just one night here and then abandoned the palace.

1/5 The legend associated with this is that when the next morning Begum woke up and looked out from the balcony of her bedroom, she could see Basti Malook Shah, a nearby graveyard, so she refused to stay here and moved to Darbar Palace.

Lesser known fact:

1/n But how all this started? This all started when Samma chieftain of Thatta, Jam Jada was childless and in need of legitimate heir to the throne. So he decided to adopt his brother's son, Lakho and nominated him the future lord of his lands.

Famous Palestinian poem "Identity Card" by Muhammad Darwesh

Write down !
I am an Arab
And my identity card number is fifty thousand
I have eight children
And the ninth will come after a summer
Will you be angry?

#SheikhJarrah

1/n Write down!
I am an Arab
Employed with fellow workers at a quarry
I have eight children
I get them bread
Garments and books
from the rocks..
I do not supplicate charity at your doors
Nor do I belittle myself at the footsteps of your chamber
So will you be angry?

Apalala, the Water Dragon of #Gandhara who lived during the time of Buddha was intially saviour of Swat valley but laterly became sign of destruction for his own people.

According to the legend originally he was born as a man named Gangi along the banks of Suvastu/Swat River. He used subtle charms to restrain the power of the wicked dragons in the region so that they could not afflict the crops with violent storms. The people of his land were grateful for his protection because now their crops were healthy, abundant and save from evil dragons.
