A Hindu colleague wished me on the occasion of Xmas today. I told him that it's not our festival. To which he branded me "racist". I said I'm being a realist. Do "they" celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali or Ganeshotsav? Obviously he had no answer. This is problematic 1/n (1) We throw around the word "racist" so casually without knowing its true meaning (2) We have zero pride in our own faith & desperately want to appear open minded & accepting of other faiths even when they don't accord us the same respect 2/n
