Y'all, they called back again (different caller, same scam) and I got to ask Your On*line Pub1icist my other questions!
Me: Oh I'm so glad you called back. I was curious where you planned to market my book.
Y: Facebook Y: can you tell me how your book is doing?
Me: Well, it's been translated into several languages, published in hardcover, paperback, and audio. It won the Philip K Dick Award for the year it came out.
Y: oh wow. Well, we'd love to work with you.
Me: great! What will you pay me?

One look at the winners & finalists & longlists shows what an amazing time for SFF we are living in. Acknowledge the past, but awards are about the present & future. My father tells those same stories about Chicon III that George told. He also owns every single year's best anthology in the field, to the current year. He subscribes to the magazines. If my dad can recognize that new names enrich the genre, so can George.
