@johnpavlovitz Financial self interest (misguided by poor understanding of personal financial implications, tax policy, etc. - watching too much Fox News) and complete willingness to turn a blind eye if they think it continues to serve their financial self interest.
@johnpavlovitz They have bought into the argument that democratic party control means socialism, including socialized healthcare, price controls, depressing physician wages, etc. And that, to them is worse than COVID denial, deaths, anti-Science, Anti-Vax rhetoric.

Why I teach explicitly about race and racism when I teach education policy classes including school finance 1/x.
Neighborhoods were assigned greater lending risk (& lesser value) BECAUSE RESIDENTS WERE BLACK. In many metros, Black-White segregation NOW, follows 1939 redlining

To those who cite the UARK total BS study comparing charter and district "revenues" to show that charters are woefully underfunded. Here's what they found on Maryland - versus what a legitimate analysis found: marylandpublicschools.org/stateboard/Doc… UARK claims Baltimore charters received -42%.
Baltimore charter schools spend marginally more per pupil than otherwise similar Baltimore district schools: marylandpublicschools.org/stateboard/Doc… That's a huge difference when comparing their bogus analysis to far more precise/accurate methods. The rest of their estimates equally bogus!

One need only look to the south (OK) and west (CO) from Kansas to see the potential consequences of weakening or eliminating constitutional protections and court oversight of equitable and adequate funding for schools! #ksleg#ksed
I have come to see the current Kansas governance structure, constitutional language and judicial oversight as a model for others to follow! This includes steps #ksleg has taken over the years to understand their fiscal responsibility (cost studies) #ksed
