I asked a black woman who has worked for the federal government in DC for 41yrs how many black men work in govt. “Not many. They’re discriminated against.” One brother with a masters interviewed well but didn’t get the job.” Black woman interviewer said he was “over qualified.” Whenever I hear black women on this app denigrate all black men, more often than not it’s economically motivated or a reflection of ambitions that can ONLY come at the black man’s expense. I never hear any other demographic of woman with the expressed goal of NOT NEEDING A MAN.

A young black male was promoted to assistant clinical director by my white female clinical director. The director happens to be my favorite employee and he happens to her favorite. He stopped by my office to thank me and express how much it meant to work for my partner and I. He said it was inspiring to see 2 black men NOT celebrities do the things we do. I was caught off guard. The next day I called him in my office to let him know how much what he said meant to me because in 11yrs in business not ONE black person male or female ever said that to me.

I’ve totally stopped listening to rap. I don’t trust the energy and intent of the music. It used to make me feel good when it was party music. Then it just kept getting darker and darker. Is party rap still a thing or is everyone trying to convince us their life was so rough? This narrative that rap started out as being a voice of the struggle is nonsense. Rap started out as an escape from the struggle. It wasn’t until Grand Master Flash and The Furious Five recorded “The Message” in 1982 did that element get added to the burgeoning genre.
