China has a ship building capacity advantage over us orders of magnitude more than the U.S. did over Japan in WW2. To close the industrial/tech gap you’d have to go on a massive *hiring* spree within the fed gov. But this is la la land, everyone in charge just wants to steal

Finally finished this. I haven’t seen a convincing refutation of its thesis. It seems clear since the end of the Cold War Israel no longer acts as the USA’s “attack dog” or a traditional client state but rather has a lobby powerful enough to shape U.S. policy to its own ends

War with Iran was seriously mooted during the second Bush term and Cheney was all for it. Israel wanted permission to bomb Iran before Obama was sworn in but got told no. The only reason there was no war is the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20-30% of the world’s oil passes
In the event of war Iran will certainly shut down the strait which could be a doomsday scenario for global oil markets. This fact led to one of the stranger conspiracies, the Lockerbie bombing of 1988.
