1. Today, together with Kovyla Publishing, we are opening the pre-order for my book “Scars and Seeds: Reckonings from Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine.”

This is not a memoir, nor an attempt to tell my personal story. I decided to write this book for a different reason. 2. Over these years of war, we have paid a very high price-in people, decisions, mistakes,and experience. At the same time, we have gained something that cannot be simulated in any training center:an understanding of modern war as it truly is-harsh, fast, and constantly evolving.

During the Kharkiv counteroffensive, Ukrainian armored vehicles were marked with the symbol "White Cross". Let’s talk about the origins of this sign, as it is much more than just a symbol to recognise friendlies. The cross, which was used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive, is called the "catacomb cross", or "the sign of victory". It was often used on Cossack flags and is one of the symbols of the Cossacks.

"The flag is a symbol of the state, which they faithfully served.
The flowers are red - as the blood that was shed for it.
The dishes are empty - they could sit here with us. Now their name is next to other names.
Remembering them, we express our gratitude and respect.
We remember every mortal wound.
We remember every warrior, every sworn brother.
We carry their invisible images in our hearts.
