Camping by the side of the Hosur-Denkannikottai street for the last 4 days in incessant rain, women, children & men and now police in riot gear. #IndiAves @mkstalin @ptrmadurai 1/5 Driven to desperation by the incessant quarrying around the village, the villagers, in early April, had refused to send their children to school. The issue was resolved then by what soon would prove to be hollow promises. A road, cutting through the village was re-done 2/5

A thread - My personal interpretation of Vishu:
"Tinted in Gold" is how I remember the early morning waking up to usher in the New Year. Now, as the "elder", it is my job to set up the VishuKani the night before, light the lamp and welcome the children. 1/6 The children are woken up before the break of dawn and led, without allowing them to open their eyes, to where this is set up. The first sight they see is this lamp-lit spread, signifying prosperity. Laden with symbolism this is set under the watchful gaze of Krishna. 2/6
