I keep thinking of my visit with James Coddington a few days ago. He is still facing execution tomorrow.  James went 14 years without a single visitor, except his lawyers. Let that sink in… Last month he had his first visitors, a month before his execution.  And even we were not allowed a contact visit.  We had to talk through plexiglass. He said sometimes it gets so lonely he curls up with his bible and sleeps with it.

Jesus wasn’t white.
He didn’t speak English.
He wasn’t a Republican, or a Democrat.
He carried a cross not a gun.

The flag is not a Christian symbol.
The national anthem is not a worship song.

The Bible doesn’t say “God bless America” - it says, “For God so loved the WORLD.” Jesus is God in the flesh.
He came to us as a brown-skinned, Palestinian, Jewish refugee.
Born in a genocide… homeless.
Executed by the State.

On the cross, Jesus absorbed all violence.

He put death on display in order to subvert it with love, forgiveness, and an empty tomb.

We need these.

PRINCIPLE ONE: Nonviolence Is a Way of Life for Courageous People. PRINCIPLE TWO: Nonviolence Seeks to Win Friendship and Understanding.

Franklin Graham has doubled down his support for Trump. Even after the attack on the Capitol, he says Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. It’s long past time to stop supporting @SamaritansPurse as long as Franklin is in charge. There are many other great ministries to support. "It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it."
