No idea why I thought of Serial today. But looking into it a decade later realizing 1) evidence points to Adnan as obvious culprit. 2) Rabia Chaudry was running Reddit troll swarm to attack anyone calling him guilty. So this internet manipulation makes Serial peak #Long2014 Woman killed by her boyfriend is a very common cause of murder, so that was plausbile motive for me. But, turns out Adnan’s mentor (and first phone call from jail) was Bilal Ahmed serial sex abuser dentist & religious youth group pederast, so looks like we’re back at that nexus… Image

A few years ago, I got really fixated on how 50 Cent's "Get Rich of Die Tryin" was such a perfectly aligned product & avatar to reinforce the tone of Shock and Awe/War on Terror Era Bush's America. Can't believe I didn't know about this fact. Bush era country music industry was very in your face about how it was in the pockets of Heritage Foundation & Coors family. But, there was something happening too with how well 2001-2006 hip-hop major label industry was playing into the Bush agenda.

Watched Buffy for the first time last year (I’ve always known had I been born 6 years earlier I’d likely have been very into the show when it aired) and was pleasantly surprised by the extent to which political paranoia runs through the latter-half of the show The show takes a definitive dark turn shortly before 9/11 happened, but the difference in tone between early and later seasons definitely maps on eerily well to shift in tone in American life between late 90s and early 00s
