Employee : I'm quitting. Here's my 2 weeks notice.

Boss : That's serious. You got a higher salary offer?

Employee : No, I'm okay with my pay

Boss : Huh, was the work too much?

Employee : The workload's not an issue.

Boss : Performance review?

Employee : I'm grateful for it.

Boss : Your coworkers?

Employee : No problems there.

Boss : Then why are you leavening?

Employee : Honestly .... "I'm stuck believing that everything depends on me."

The more dedicated a person is,

the more responsibilities they end up carrying.

They rarely say no when someone asks for help.

And when they notice something that needs to be done,

they simply do it.

DURING A SALARY INTERVIEW:

"Your Current Salary is 50,000. Why Are You Requesting 80,000?"

Most people say something like: "That is the current market rate."

WINNING ANSWER: If you’re aiming for fair compensation and don’t want to be underpaid, here’s a way you can respond to the interviewer:

"Hello, interviewer. I’m requesting a salary of $80,000 because I’ve considered three key factors.

First, the job requires proficiency in [specific skill/ability], and I have extensive experience and resources in this area from my previous project work at [last company]. I’m confident that my background makes me fully qualified for this role.

Second, the market average for this position is currently between $78,000 and $90,000, so my request of $80,000 aligns well with industry standards. I believe this is reasonable for the skills and experience required.

If you need to take a sick leave, always choose Wednesday.

Here's why : 1. It doesn't naturally extend a weekend. Midweek absences are generally less likely to be viewed as creating a long weekend.

2. It avoids the "Monday or Friday" perception. Some managers pay closer attention to absences at the start or end of the week.

3. It looks less like a planned break. A single midweek absence is less likely to trigger unnecessary suspicion.

4. It breaks up your workload. A day to recover can make the rest of the week more manageable.

5. You'll usually return before the weekend. That gives you time to catch up on urgent work.

6. Coworkers are less likely to assume you're on a mini-vacation.

Apply for jobs between 7:50 AM and 9:30 AM.

Here's why it works: Here's why it works:

• Recruiters open email first thing when they start work.

• Your CV shows up at the top.

• Early CVs often get the first call or text if they like your profile.

• You skip the pile. You get seen first.

Most applicants send CVs at lunch or after work.

If you're serious about getting a well timed call:
• Prep the night before.
• Save job links.
• Apply before 9:30 AM.
• Repeat daily.

This takes 10 minutes. It Works.

My mom got fired from her job today.

I wanted to call her boss, but I didn't have his phone number. So I found him on social media.

His Instagram was public. His latest post was a vacation photo. Palawan. A five-star hotel. A cocktail by the pool.

My mom had worked for that man for 11 years.

I wanted to leave a comment. My hands were on the keyboard. I just sat there for 10 minutes.

In the end, I didn't write anything. I closed the app.

That evening, my mom said, “I'll find another job, don't worry.”

She laughed.

That laugh burned inside me.

That night, I saved a photo of her boss to my phone.

My mom asked me why I saved it.

I replied: I had two reasons.

First, every time I spend more than three years in a company, I should look at that photo and remember what happened to my mom after giving 11 years of her life to one employer.

Her boss fired her while he was on vacation.

Second, if I ever become a boss, I should look at that photo before firing anyone.

I should remember that behind every employee is a family.

A husband. A wife. Children. Rent. Bills. Dreams.

And sometimes, the only income keeping everything together.

I should remember that while a boss may see a position on a spreadsheet, a family sees their breadwinner.

Because firing someone should be the last option, not the first.

One day a man retired after working for the same company for over 30 years.

He came home looking tired.

In his hand was a small bag with the documents for his retirement payout.

His wife opened it.

She looked at the figures.

Then looked at him.

“This is less than what you were supposed to receive.”

He nodded.

That evening, their son came home, saw the documents, and asked:

“Dad… is this all they gave you after 30 years?”

He said nothing.

Confused, his wife called one of his longtime coworkers.

What he told her changed everything. “Your husband could have earned much more,” the coworker said.

“How?”

“He refused overtime.”

“He rarely worked weekends.”

“He always left on time.”

“He turned down promotions.”

“Promotions?” she asked.

“Yes. More than once.”

“Why would he do that?”

The coworker ended the call.

(“Because every promotion came with longer hours, more weekends, more travel… less time at home.”)

The next morning she confronted him.

“So it’s true?”

“You turned down better pay? Promotions? More money?”

He quietly replied,

“Yes.”

“Why?”

He looked at her and said:

Employee: Can I get my salary on the 30th?

Manager: What does your contract say?

Employee: Payment is made on the 1st of every month.

Manager: Then sorry, you can’t be paid on 30th.

Employee: But the 1st is a public holiday. I need the money before the long weekend. A little flexibility won’t hurt the company.

Manager: Sorry, rules are rules.

Employee: Understood.

On Monday...↓ On Monday

Manager: You didn’t send the report I asked for on the 1st.

Employee: Can I ask you a question?

Manager: Yes.

Employee: What does my contract say about working on public holidays?

Manager: It’s not a working day for employees. But sometimes, a little flexibility is needed from your side.

Employee: Then why is it fair to expect employees to be flexible with their time off, but the company can’t be flexible with salary payment when employees need it most?

Manager: I’m also an employee. I’m hired to execute decisions made by the executives.

Employee: You’re not a robot. You’re human. Don’t follow unfair rules blindly.

Manager: If I don’t, my kids won’t eat or go to school.

Employee: Your children should not survive at the expense of other employees’ families. They may have children too.

Manager: So what should I do?

Employee: Put humanity back into management.

Boss raises their voice at you in front of your coworkers:

🥉 Low
・Stays silent
・Looks down
・Submits
→ Teaches people that disrespecting you publicly has no consequence.

🥈 Average
・Argues back
・Raises their voice too
・Turns it into a scene
→ Understandable, but now the issue becomes your reaction instead of their behavior.

🥇High↓↓↓ 🥇High

Follow these steps

Step 1: Pause
Say nothing for 3–4 seconds. Just look at them calmly and let the silence settle in. That pause matters. It forces the room to register what just happened and makes the behavior feel as inappropriate as it is. People often continue disrespect only when others rush to smooth it over.

Step 2: Correct the volume
Respond in a calm, steady voice:
“I can hear you perfectly well. There is no need to raise your voice to make your point.”
This does two things. First, it shows composure. Second, it makes it clear that the issue is not the work—it is their behavior.

Step 3: Walk out
End the interaction professionally:
“I’m going to step out until we can speak like professionals. Let me know when you’re ready to continue.”
Then leave. Do not stay in the room and absorb further humiliation. Walking away is not weakness. It is boundary-setting.

Step 4: Document the incident
As soon as possible, send a short follow-up email. Keep it factual, not emotional. Summarize what happened, the context, and your response. Copy anyone who reasonably needs visibility, such as HR or another relevant leader. The goal is not drama. The goal is to create a record. In many workplaces, memory is selective, but written documentation lasts.

Step 5: Be prepared
Be ready for backlash. A manager who is comfortable shouting in public may also try to punish boundaries in private. Stay calm, keep records, and decide early what your limit is. If the disrespect becomes a pattern, be prepared to leave.

→ Protects your dignity without losing control.

Interviewer says "Introduce yourself"

Don't talk about your education, location, age etc

Memorize this exact script : ⸻

“Good morning, and thank you for the opportunity to be here.”

“My name is [Your Name], and I’m currently a [Your Current Job Title] at [Company Name]”

“I have [X] years of experience in [Your Industry or Field], where I’ve focused on [Key Skills or Responsibilities].”

4. Highlight key achievements or strengths:

“In my previous role, I led a project that [Brief Achievement], which helped improve [Result].”

JOB INTERVIEW QUESTION:
"What do you do outside of work?"

Most candidates say:
“I like reading books.”
“I take online courses to learn new skills.”

THE WINNING ANSWER: Honestly, this is the answer everyone gives.
HR has heard this thing 100 times a day.

The key to this question is really simple:
“Does your life outside work show qualities that make you a stronger employee?”

HR are not really asking for your weekend plans. HR are trying to see your personality, discipline, balance, and whether you do anything that reflects positively on how you work.

Think of it this way, if you just say “I like relaxing,” almost everyone likes relaxing.
But if you say “I spend time doing things that sharpen my discipline, creativity or people skills,” that stands out.

Try using this formula:

Start with activities that reflect positive qualities

Not just random hobbies.
Choose hobbies that quietly show something useful about you.

❌ “I just sleep and watch Netflix.”
✅ “Outside work, I enjoy reading, learning new tools, and taking short online courses to improve my skills.”

Add something that shows balance or discipline

HR likes answers that show you are not one-dimensional.

❌ “I’m always working.”
✅ “I also make time for exercise and family, because I believe staying balanced helps me perform better at work.”

Connect it to your professional strengths

This is where most candidates miss it.
Do not leave the hobby hanging. Tie it back to the job.

“I enjoy organizing community activities, and that has helped me become better at planning, communication, and working with different people.”

Keep it natural and relevant

Do not force a fake answer.
Pick real things, but frame them well.

“I enjoy reading about business trends and customer behavior, which helps me stay curious and think more strategically in my work.”

Put it together, it goes like this:

“Outside of work, I like spending time on activities that help me grow and stay balanced. I enjoy reading, learning new things online, and sometimes taking short courses related to my field. I also make time for exercise and family, because I’ve found that having balance helps me stay focused and productive at work.

I think these habits have helped me become more disciplined, adaptable, and open to learning, which are qualities I also bring into my job.”

If your answer is solid like this, → HR sees maturity.
Not random, not generic.

HR: "We can't offer the salary you're asking for."

Most candidates continue to answer:
❌ "Oh okay..."
❌ "Any amount also can..."
❌ "Other companies can give..."

Let's not do that. Instead of reacting emotionally or giving in, try a smarter approach.

Ask this one powerful question:
"I understand. Just to clarify, is the limitation because of a fixed budget for this role or is it based on my current experience?"

With this one question, you can find out what the real obstacles are.
After that, it's easy for you to negotiate more strategically.

If the problem is budget:
"If the basic salary is fixed, can we explore other benefits like remote options, allowances or maybe a signing bonus to help balance the gap?"

If because of experience:
"I see. Would you be open to revisiting the salary after 6 months based on my performance?"

Can you see the difference? From 'NO' to a solution-focused conversation.

If this helps, share it so more people can learn!

Any graduate going for interviews this week?

Make sure you're ready with answers for these 8 Interview questions:

1. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF ?

The interviewer is not interested in hearing stories; they simply expect to know your academic and professional achievements, your name and the institution you currently work for. Take a minutes to introduce yourself, and state your recent academic qualification and your relevant experience (if any).

''My name is [Your Name] and I am a recent graduate of [University Name] with a Bachelors of Science in [Degree]. I am a highly motivated and adaptable individual with a passion for learning and growth. I thrive in fast-paced environments and constantly look for ways to improve and take on new challenges.

In my previous role as a [Position Name] at [Company Name], I was responsible for [List of Responsibilities]. I have a proven track record of success in [List of Accomplishments].

I am excited to learn more about the [Position Name] position at [Company Name] and believe that my skills and experience would be a valuable asset to your team.''

2. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE BEST CANDIDATE?

The recruiter expects you to tell them about your professional achievements and the unique skills you possess that will add value to the organization. If you are a Customer Care graduate then you should tell them that you are a good listener and patient; these are the qualities the employer is looking for.

"I believe I am the best candidate for this customer care role because of my skills and experience, as well as my passion for helping others. I have a strong academic background in customer care, and I have also gained valuable experience through my internships and volunteer work. I am a good listener and I am patient, which are essential qualities for a customer care representative. I am also a team player and I am always willing to go the extra mile to help my colleagues and customers.

In addition to my customer care skills, I am also a highly motivated and adaptable individual. I am always willing to learn new things and I am always looking for ways to improve. I am also a quick learner and I am able to grasp new concepts quickly.

I am confident that I have the skills and experience necessary to be successful in this role, and I am eager to learn more about your company and how I can contribute to your team. I am also passionate about helping others, and I believe that my customer care skills would be a valuable asset to your company."

#IkoKaziKE 3. WHAT AREAYOU YOUR WEAKNESSES?

The question is not simple as it looks; most candidates go blank when they face this kind of question. Take your time in explaining why you can’t leave the office before you complete a task. You can also inform them how you are quick to trust a person, which in most cases makes you a victim.

For example, if you are interviewing for a customer care role, you might say that your weakness is that you are a perfectionist, and that you sometimes have trouble letting go of tasks until you are absolutely sure that they are perfect. You could then explain that you are working on this by setting deadlines for yourself and by delegating tasks to others when necessary.

Here are some other examples of weaknesses that you could mention in an interview:

Procrastination: "I sometimes procrastinate on tasks that I don't enjoy, but I am working on this by setting deadlines for myself and by breaking down large tasks into smaller ones."

Delegation: "I have difficulty delegating tasks to others, but I am working on this by learning to trust my colleagues and by giving them clear instructions."

Communication: "I sometimes have difficulty communicating my ideas clearly, but I am working on this by practicing my communication skills with friends and family members."

Organization: "I can be disorganized sometimes, but I am working on this by using to-do lists and by setting up systems to help me keep track of my work."

Public speaking: "I get nervous when I have to speak in public, but I am working on this by taking public speaking classes and by practicing giving presentations to friends and family members."

No matter what weakness you choose to mention, be sure to explain how you are working to improve it. This shows the interviewer that you are self-aware and that you are committed to personal growth.

4. WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS?

The employer wants to know whether you are ambitious or you’re the kind of a person who secures a job and then you forget about yourself. Answer the question by stating how you intend to further your studies and grow professionally as you strive to meet your employer’s goals.

(It is important to tie your goals to your employer's goals because no employer would be willing to hire and invest in a rookie who will leave their organization in a year or less after they have invested in training the individual).

"In five years, I see myself working as a customer care manager, leading a team of customer care representatives and helping to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience. I am also interested in developing my training skills and becoming a mentor to new customer care representatives.

I believe that my skills and experience in customer care, as well as my passion for helping others, make me a good fit for this role. I am also a quick learner and I am eager to take on new challenges. I am confident that I can achieve my goals and become a valuable asset to your team."
