The 7 salient points made in the unanimous SC Bench judgement scrapping electoral bonds:
1)Financial support via electoral bonds to political parties can lead to a quid pro quo arrangement.
2)The electoral bonds scheme is not the only scheme to curb black money. There are other alternatives. 3)Infringement to the right to information is not justified by the purpose of curbing black money.
4)Not all political contributions are made with the intent to alter public policy. Students, daily wagers etc also contribute. To not grant an umbrella of privacy to political contributions only because some contributions are made for other purposes is not impermissible.

Congratulations, Kerala! We will do our best to live up to the trust and responsibility you have vested in us. We thank the people of Tamil Nadu for giving our alliance an opportunity to work for them. (1/n) We accept the people’s mandate in West Bengal and are disappointed with the Samyukta Morcha’s performance. Detailed introspection will follow. We are very happy to see the BJP with its money, misuse of agencies and manipulation pushed back in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and W Bengal (2/n)

The voluminous Economic Survey robs the relevance of this exercise. Instead of informing the people about the state of economy and future direction for recovery this is self congratulatory based on dubious reasoning. There’s no recognition of the humongous economic recession. Focus is on ‘regression’ which is due to the pandemic.
ES is a propaganda & spin exercise obfuscating disastrous government policies.

These “important farm bills” were passed in a din, not allowing any discussion, negating voting & suspending MPs who demanded a vote.
All this in a tearing hurry in the midst of a raging pandemic.

The three farm laws must be immediately repealed. The PM must make the announcement. (1/n) The situation has been brought to this pass by the Modi government. Farmers have been protesting peacefully in the cold for more than 60 days, not allowed to come into Delhi and more than 100 Kisans are dead. (2/n)

The 'bhoomi pujan' function at Ayodhya done by the Prime Minister of India televised globally by the national broadcaster, DD has confirmed all the major points raised by the CPI(M) Polit Bureau yesterday. 1. The state take over of the construction of the temple in the presence of the Governor and the CM of UP is a negation of the secular democratic character of the Indian Republic.

1. Indian economy has plunged into a severe recession. Crores of lives are destroyed. Modi government can no longer be in denial. 2. No revival is possible without strengthening people’s capacity to spend.
