We can neither confirm or deny if our President & Co-founder Sande crashed Rufus’ follow-up vet appointment last night. 🤐 What we can say: the news was better than we expected! 1/ … Now, to be clear, this sweet guy (~14 years old) has a laundry list of health problems - heart issues, kidney issues, anemia, dental issues - but this is a cat who wants to live & love! He’s already gained over a pound after just two weeks in @Krisnorthrup1g1’s great care… 2/

Ok, Twitter, we need you to work some magic for super-sweet senior gentleman Rufus & help him find the best fospice home ever. Due to multiple medical issues, he has limited time left - a year? - and we want whatever he gets to be purrfect. Life hasn’t been very kind to him… 1/ … but this awesome easygoing dude has taken it in stride - he loves people & food, & basically just wants to hang out with you & eat (which he’ll need to do 4-5x/day to put some weight on - second breakfast, here he comes!) There’s a lot we could say on that recent article in The Cut, by someone who came to hate and seriously neglect their cat of 10 years after their baby was born. Some of it is best left in drafts. But we want to comment about how she started leaving the window open… 1/ … in the hope that their cat would disappear outside to die, a kind of passive abandonment by proxy.

Because as we know from our Street Kitty Fund, this has been a banner year for abandoning cats, with 50%+ of the ones we’ve treated being friendlies with no outside skills… 2/
