Woke journalists Anti-woke crusaders

🤝

Going after singular game devs on massive projects due to their individual beliefs even when there’s no evidence it influenced the actual game Some random dev being publicly gay doesn’t mean they’re automatically jamming messaging you disagree with into a game, and nothing yet shown even suggests Dawnwalker is a DEI mess.

This witch-hunting is no different than what Kotaku does. Congrats. You’re rightwing Kotaku now

You can get all this stuff in game. It is gross that they sell it, but you can absolutely not engage with store & it won’t hurt the experience. Worth adding that Capcom does this for most their games. That’s not at all to excuse it, but it’s not new.

DMCV literally sells orbs
Image The first game has limited fast travel stones too, and the point was to strategically place them. This game is the same. You get enough in the base game to get by. Only dorks will pay for more of them.

Hard to give a fuck about “GamerGate 2” when people on one side are flocking towards cry bully grievance mongering game journos & their industry friends, & on the other side they’re flocking towards Matt Walsh, Elon Musk, the million dollar bus guy, & James Lindsay

Awful reboot. Image Anyways. This is worth bringing up again. Image

This is such a wild response to seeing a black pilot who in the video is literally doing nothing wrong. I’ll gladly take the black pilot over the white lady who ran meth for literal cartels

An employee started it when he told people to bury a Steam account in false reports cuz the owner “loves his account so much”, & all cuz a guy made a list of games SB consulted on. Chris Kindred literally helped Streisand the list into popularity with his own harassment tactics

Attempt to falsely ban someone on Steam under a wave of false reports then play victim.

Oh, huh. It sorta is like Gamergate. 🤭

Worst part is that this stuff is often a result of focus tests which show that average consumers are retarded beyond repair & lacking in the creative ability to explore what’s possible within games,& with production as costly as it is they need bottom tier gamers to succeed in em Devs & publishers literally feel they have to paint ladders & breakable crates this color cuz if they dont a large amount of gamers will get lost & confused, it’s a consequence of games costing untold millions of dollars & needing to appeal the the lowest common to be profitable

Going viral for throwing a tantrum about pronouns in Starfield instead of articulating a cohesive argument for why you find ‘em unnecessary is gunna lead to more studios inserting them into char creators as they begin to feel a need to distance themselves from gamers who lash out It’s just a fact that temper tantrums often lead to the opposite of what you want, & that viral clip will no doubt cause more devs to insert what triggered him into their games. Partly cause many devs don’t like those types, & also cuz it just makes good/easy PR for them

Game devs who use political iconography are still allowed to limit modern political discussions within their communities as more often than not such discussions devolve into insane rabidness and fighting

Some people just wanna chill & there's nothing wrong with that. So fuck off Image On a similar note, my content on Youtube is quite political, as are my tweets, but within my discord server I rarely engage in polchat, & when I stream I put more emphasis on being goofy & hanging out

It's unhealthy to focus on politics all the time. Escaping it is good for you

Finished Hogwarts Legacy

A broken side quest is preventing me from getting four trophies, so I need to wait for a patch to platinum it, but that aside, I hate to say it cuz Im friendly with people on the dev team, but I did not like it. I think it misses the mark in many ways Image The enemy variety is exceptionally weak, & for a rich universe full of fantastical creatures, some of things you fight are just stupid. The design for this one statue boss is especially lame

Plot wise it’s okay, but it rarely nails dramatic highs. I felt largely detached from it

Finished God of War, here's my mini review (🧵):

If you strip away the high production values & fancy graphics, what remains is a painfully mediocre experience. One drowning in horrendously tedious level design & overly repetitive combat sequences/enemies

I was so fricken bored To call the game a slog would be an understatement of Godly proportions, the pacing is an absolute mess & the level design atrocious. Honestly, it's some of the most annoyingly boring/repetitive level design I've seen in a AAA game for some time. Which is really saying something

The awards are determined by a voting jury of popular websites, & individual reviewers at those sites dont hold majority power. It’s an agreed upon decision of almost everyone at each site, & as ppl have been open about before, many havent finished the games they vote for

Stupid Listen to various podcasts (Easy Allies for ex) & they sometimes discuss the process for how they vote for the awards, usually doing an internal poll of sorts. And most of em dont get early review copies. So a lot of them haven’t finished the games they voted on.

Totally healthy industry. Image Threats of harm cuz of low scores (and a loss of access in a world of access journalism) is why many games get bloated scores they so obviously don’t deserve.

From time to time you can find game bloggers discussing this: ImageImageImage

Critics be giving perfect 10s to Sony games that haven't changed since Uncharted 2

But really, the new GoW sucks. It's a relentless barrage of tedium. There's been more handholdy platforming, scenes riding animals/boats, & dialogue/cutscenes than there has been engaging gameplay Im blown away by how much dialogue/cutscenes there's been, it's the vast majority of the experience so far, with tons of reskinned boat/elevator/animal riding scenes. It's so utterly slow & plodding, with much of it painfully uninteresting.

And dont get me started on the quips

9 hours in and my opinion of this game being a slog is only reinforced. Without spoilers, there's a scene involving some woods and a yak, and it drags and drags and drags and drags...... and drags

This game is a complete and utter chore. Sorta mindblown at how boring it truly is The funny part is, I've been dealing with some depression as it relates to physical health issues that aren't fully improving, and a friend bought this for me in the hopes it'd distract me and cheer me up.

Darkly humorous all things considered, Haha.

Finding Ragnarok to be a massive slog. There’s far too much slow/uninteresting Uncharted-like platforming. The puzzles are weak. Combat is just so-so. The endless walk & talk scenes & canoe trips are driving me bonkers. And the story is nowhere near as interesting as 2018

Meh/10 For the record I didnt love 2018 as much as most. I thought it was definitely good, landing around a 7/10 on my scale (good score is good), but it wasn’t a masterpiece to me.

As far as this sequel goes though, I’m finding it less than good. It’s super tedious/boring.

Long before Elon’s reign, if you typed slurs into the search bar you’d find em. On top of that, the spike we’re seeing now is simply cuz trolls & bad actors are gunna troll

None of this is a sign of anything & any journo that suggests otherwise is simple minded or disingenuous ImageImage Tons of accounts named BunchaLetters&Numbers just tweeted slurs to their 12 followers, how did this not get noticed until I typed slurs into my search bar and highlighted it?!?!

Pseudo-nerd girls love retconning cuz dudes were not turning em down from gaming. Im 33, Ive been around the block, & most wouldve loved having nerdy girls around

You just be making shit up to hide the fact you didnt get into these hobbies until it was mainstream & cool to do so And hey, there’s nothing wrong with embracing a hobby later in life, but quit the shit & stop pretending you were delayed cuz the scene wasnt previously welcoming. It was welcoming as hell, most yall just didnt realize it cuz you were the snooty pricks mocking us growing up

I see no problem with women proposing to men. Love is a two way street, and all that matters is that the moment feels special. Let people enjoy things.

Honestly it's stupid to put social conditions on love. Why cares who does the proposing in another person's relationship? All the expectations put onto men, and the judgement that ensues should they stray is why so many of them are deeply unhappy.
