The argument that adults should be able to transition seems like a very simple stand to take and it lets people off from having to think through some hard questions.

1. Should adults have autonomy to do what they want ?

If you answer yes, then where is the line? Do adults have the right to tell doctors what operations to preform on them?

Do adults have the right to mandate what drugs are given to them?

The problem with this argument of “adults should be able to transition” is that these adults are not doing this in a vacuum.

I originally spoke up about my experiences because I wanted to help other butch lesbians like myself. I didn’t do it for the kids or for any other reason other then a love for my butch sisters I believe we are being fed lies from all sides and have been for years. We transition in large part because of our self hate and shame around being butch. And for some of us age doesn’t matter. Self hate and shame can last a life time.
