Ms. Rantho refers to the allegations in the Sunday Times of 27 February 2011 reported under the heading "Ministers shiver when summoned to family's home". #StateCaptureInquiry She says the article referred to a claim that the Gupta brothers wielded so much power that they often summoned cabinet ministers and senior government officials to their family compound in Saxonwold, Johannesburg. #StateCaptureInquiry

Ms. Mazzone says on the 08 March_2016, she issued a statement that it was her intention to write to the Chairperson of the PCPE, Ms. Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba - #StateCaptureInquiry She adds..., to request that the Gupta brothers be summoned to Parliament to answer for what appeared to be undue influence that they enjoyed over President Zuma, the Government and its officials. #StateCaptureInquiry

Mr. Godi says in the period during which he chaired SCOPA, all of our reports contained recommendations as regards required corrective action. For example, #StateCaptureInquiry He says their reports would request certain Ministers to report to Parliament on specified steps taken to address particular issues within a given period. #StateCaptureInquiry

Mr. Godi says the doctrine of separation of powers implies that Parliament may not exercise the functions of the Executive. This also applies to SCOPA, as a committee of Parliament. #StateCaptureInquiry He says SCOPA does not have powers that exceed the powers of Parliament. for example, he says it cannot issue a warrant for the arrest of corrupt officials. #StateCaptureInquiry

Mr. Godi says prior to his tenure, it had not been the Committee's practice to require Ministers to attend its hearings and to account to it. #StateCaptureInquiry He says this had been justified on the basis that the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) renders accounting officers and accounting authorities - not Ministers -

Mr. Godi says the Committee focused in hearings primarily on entities that were apportioned the largest budgets and on reports that disclosed the most serious levels of financial mismanagement. #StateCaptureInquiry Mr. Godi says In order to save and utilize time efficiently, SCOPA did not allow officials to make lengthy presentations at its hearings (which is a common practice in Portfolio Committees). #StateCaptureInquiry
