We’ve got to stop claiming we know what people “need” and ignoring the fact that sometimes people don’t want your hot takes on their life right now.
Being a friend is being honest, for sure, but when the person is ready. The goal is to help, not be right, right?
I saw a tweet, and this is in no way talking about whatever she’s talking about, so I didn’t quote it. It just made me think of someone else who said that to me but didn’t really, in my opinion, listen long enough to know what I needed in that moment and what I didn’t need.

The thing I want to say to newbies and security hopefuls is...no one thing will propel you into a security role.
No cert. No degree. No website. No blog. Nothing.
That is not and should not be the aim of those things. There’s no secret thing that is guaranteed to get you a job
In fact...I was super qualified for a role. And did not get it.
I was SEVERELY UNDERqualified for a role. And I got it.
It doesn’t make any fucking sense. It’s not exact. There is no smoking gun. Just don’t even think that because you will be so pissed off at everything.
