I’ve traveled extensively and let me tell you what most won’t
It’s a waste of time
most places will blend together in your mind and you won’t even remember you went unless you see a photo of yourself
No one actually cares to see the photos from the last trip you went on
No one cares about the story of the one funny cab driver you met that time.
It’s much better ways to spend a couple grand at a time.
Why do I say this?

#IA
Always confirm how IA firms pay their adjusters
One thing that can catch adjusters off guard whether they are taking a deployment, in the field, desk or remote is the schedule of when you will get paid
IA firms pay in varying ways and if you don’t know when they pay BEFORE you accept the deployment you can put yourself in a bad spot financially
Desk adjusters usually get paid as hourly employees but you will also see desk adjusters get paid by day rate ex: $500 per day. On rare deployments you’ll see Desk adjusters get paid per claim that is closed.
(for file review deployments you’ll also see adjusters get paid per claim that’s been completed)
Per diem is offered at some IA firms NOT ALL when an IA travels over 150 miles to work in office, this isn’t a rule however and you’ll need to confirm with the firm before you
You deserve the success you seek, you also deserve to have the benefits that come with success
A good bank account, a stable social and family life etc etc
What I want to talk about today specifically is the money portion of success
All too often I see students and other IA's myself included go on to make great money each paycheck but find a way to lose the money through bad habits.
Here's what those habits look like
1) Inability to say no to family and friends when they ask for money.

SKILLS PAY THE BILLS
One thing I've noticed over my career as an Independent adjuster that separates a regular adjuster and successful adjusters is a certain set of skills .
Unfortunately for many well meaning hardworking new adjusters, they don't automatically know these skills when they begin their first deployment and because of their lack of skill they get released early. Never realizing their true earning potential
BUT
I have a solution

Hank,
You were a friend to many people and I’m lucky I got to be one of them.
I enjoyed all our conversations about our careers, manhood, relationships, izm, and life in general
You helped so many people these last few years and I’m thankful our last conversation
Was about you finding a way to try to help people yet again
When I got the news you passed today it hit me pretty hard
Thought about all the talks we had, all the goals you had in this life
And ultimately it made me think about how much you’ve grown as a man.

I was having a conversation about the passport bro thing with a fellow expat friend of mine and here’s what we had to say about guys leaving the states to find love
90% of the time it’s not going to actually work in the way these guys think it does.
First off
Long distance relationships as a rule don’t work unless one party moves closer quickly
Now add in cultural differences and a language barrier
You’re going to have a hard time building something real with a woman outside of the states.

Marquette was working in retail before becoming an IA
Since getting licensed in 2017
He's bought and paid off a brand new car, bought a home gotten married and now PERMANENTLY works from home.
Marquette and I on his first deployment
Here we are during Hurricane Harvey which was his first deployment
Did you know that the last week of august and the first week of September historically have the biggest hurricanes?
Time is running out to get licensed before a major hurricane hits the united states

My father and I talk between 5:30am 7:30am 3-4 times a week
In 2016 he asked what was the most amount of money I had at one time.
I told him, and he said not to talk to him about business again until I had done better than that
August 2021
My father called me and while we were talking he told me how well I was doing making business decisions
And at that moment I realized he had never complimented me on my business acumen. He was always coaching me, but I finally got him to say I was doing well.

Last night I had a call with about 200 people on Twitter Spaces
Some of you were apart of that, during that call we went over mindset and the importance of getting your energy right when pursuing goals.
As the call ended I shared a personal story of how I completely changed my life by giving it my all from July 1st 2021 to September 31st 2021.
I gave my ALL every single day for 90 days straight I was only focused on one goal and I accomplished it

My pride has severely held me back from success through the years,
When I've hit rough patches in the past instead of reaching out to friends and family who could've helped me get through those rough patches I relied solely on my own skills.
This greatly exacerbated my problems
Yes, it sounds cool to say I did it all on my own when I succeed but this thought process in practice just made my life more difficult
I thought I had to have my entire life figured out and if I didn't I was a failure, this thought alone made me feel ashamed.

Networking events are pointless
It’s basically a bunch of people at your level who came to drink at an open bar
That’s not how networking is done.
You want to get around successful people you need to go where they like to go.
I’ve learned more actionable advice about business, money, and people by going to high end restaurants and sitting at the bar.
Don’t know any high end restaurants.?
Go to the nicest hotel in your city and sit at their bar.

Be who you say you are
It was 1992
My father was a rising star in the real estate industry in Alabama. He had a construction company, a real estate school and a real estate brokerage.
He was also an avid basketball player.
He would often play in the hood with the guys in West End and was a well respected amongst the fellas on the court.

It was the summer of 2011
I had just dropped out of college and I convinced a friend to drop out and run a bail bonding business with me.
It had been 3 months and we were making about $150 a week COMBINED.
We were the 19th rated bail bonding company out of 21 in the city
We had one car between the both of us.
And we slept on air mattresses in a couple of the empty rooms in the building.
It was looking bleak for us. We had tried TV commercials, billboards, passing out fliers. Nothing was working fast enough for us.

Been locked in since July 1st
My performance has gotten exponentially better
Here’s what I’ve been doing
Keeping idle chit chat to a minimum
Limiting alcohol intake
Focusing on my routine every day even when traveling
Being ruthlessly focused on my energy daily. That includes the food I eat that makes me feel good, music I listen to that makes me feel good etc

A few years ago, my GF at the time had a gay best friend.
Because he was her best friend I would be around him fairly often. He was a cool enough guy.
One day his tire blew out and he needed some help so I popped over.
We get to talking about life and he told me how he stepped up and raised his brother's child after he was sentenced to several years in jail.
He then went on to tell me how about the doubts he had about his own masculinity because of his sexuality.
