That’s the plan though, to lose elections. Those in charge of the Labour Party want to burn it down and start again, they accept this will mean election losses but they do have this sincere belief a centrist party will rise again at some point in the future. This is all priced in On current stats, 100,000 members have quit Labour but that probably still leaves a majority behind that believes in the ideas of the 2017/19 manifestos. This is anathema to the current leadership and its advisers. It will be a 5-10 year project to jettision these members
