There is a serious weather emergency playing out right now in Far North Queensland as the region continues to be impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. There is still more rain to come.

Some communities have received up to 600mm of rain in the past day.

Roads have been cut off, with some bridges damaged beyond use. Remember, if it’s flooded forget it.

Here in Queensland we feel our climate intensely.

Queenslanders are connected to our land and our environment, it’s where we draw our strengths from.

A thread 🧵👇 Over the last 200 years we’ve become an energy superpower. Our mineral resources have powered our own development, and much of the world’s. Communities up and down Queensland own that, and it is a source of great pride.

But we know that the world’s appetites have shifted.
