So, IDF intelligence branch (AMAN) has released some findings from its internal review of the failure of 7 October, titled "the path to war". A quick summary, including my analysis. 1/
The report focuses and emphasises the "conception" - using language from the post-yom kippur war investigations - that Hamas was deterred. I think this is only part of the story. It says that Hamas planning lasted 7-8 years. 2/

This issue illuminates the FUNDAMENTALS about how states use intel in decision making.
If you think the USSR failed, wait until you learn about the Nazis! If you think that Stalin's foolishness is a worse failure than the Nazis, then either you don't understand war, or you don't under intelligence, or both.
