One of the truly dark tech startups in India is an app called MyGate. They bypass end-user consent by colluding with resident welfare associations. Users need it for “approving” entry for delivery services to their flat. 🧵
And in doing so, MyGate scoops up loads of end-user data, neatly structured by service provider, and frequency. There’s no opt-out since they just need to convince a bunch of people that manage these associations and individual users and their consent suddenly no longer matter.

Mildly amusing to see people who share selfies and address for a minor incentive from a brand suddenly go all tinfoil hat with Whatsapp's new privacy terms. Looks like Whatsapp's depths of misinformation are beginning to impact it as well!
In the future, updates to privacy terms will come with a sliding scale of incentives. The sooner you agree, the more the incentive. Let's see how many holdout. 😂
