π§΅First & foremost, I think the Sunshine List is antiquated & a bit of a made-up benchmark for what the public considers an extravagant salary.
The sunshine list was created in 1996 under Mike Harris, and it was never adjusted for inflation.
$100k in 1996 would be $175k today.
Doing the inverse on the math... a $100k salary in 2023 is equivalent to making $57k in 1996. A decent, good income - sure. But extravagant? Not exactly.
In fact, the average family income in 1996 was ~$62k and the median family income that year was ~$55.

I've tuned in to a block of Landlord & Tenant Board hearings this afternoon and I'm literally sick to my stomach as I watch this farce of justice.
The hearing has been riddled with technical issues since the first moment. Tenants are confused, interrupting, don't understand what is going on.
